I'm working on a project and we're building a chatgpt use case for e-commerce and looking for ways to montise the chatbot, this is exactly what we needed. I'll dig deep and look around. Sounds interesting... congrats on the launch @jeevika_makani 🤠
@ali_eskandari hey, so excited to hear this is what you've been looking for! Got the LinkedIn connection as well, looking forward to chatting soon =)

I found this while browsing randomly and honestly I'm not sold on the payment part, so many people might hesitate to pay for what was supposed to be free initially, and though the features sound promising, I'm wondering how this will impact the quality of GPTs long-term if it's all just pay-to-upgrade, but curious to see how others feel about this 💭
@cavaleadership interesting, do you think the GPT market will be fundamentally different from how the Apple app store played out? Generative AI is expensive to run, so someone somewhere has to pay for it. From our understanding of the market so far, ChatGPT alone isn't enough of a driver for widespread adoption of Plus accounts, and so these apps are carrots to get people to upgrade to Plus. It could be that GPTs drive payment, or perhaps users pay OpenAI higher amounts for their base level subscriptions, and get access to apps for free. We don't have a crystal ball so can't know which way, but we're betting on the former, but we'll move with the market if it becomes clear that our hypothesis doesn't hold. Regardless, it's an interesting and evolving space!

Wow finally a way for devs to get paid directly for their GPTs without waiting for OpenAI to figure out revenue share, nice idea but I wonder how many users will actually be willing to pay for something they can get for free, also not everyone has a PayPal account, kinda limits the audience right off the bat, anyway hope it shakes things up a bit in the GPT space
@autoleadistqb hey! what are some PayPal alternatives that you'd want to see offered? We started with PayPal but agree, doesn't suit everyone, and are open to including other payout options.

Did we really need another way for companies to siphon money from users, good luck convincing people to pay when there are already free options everywhere, feels like a money grab masked as innovation
@cryptowhalerb a lot of the free GPTs are thin wrappers of ChatGPT, which are certainly not worth using, let alone paying for. but custom GPTs do have the potential to offer advanced functionality, and we think it's reasonable that developers want to know if they can get a return on their time / effort to build and maintain a premium product.
@klymzu thanks! we're so impressed with what you guys have achieved so far in the GPT Store (for those who haven't already, try it out here https://chatgpt.com/g/g-GvcYCKPI...), looking forward to collaborating on the premium version that's coming out
Hey Jeevika,
What percentage does Top Road take from the payments?
How do you handle potential issues like refunds or chargebacks?
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin hey, we take a 10-20% clip on each transaction, and we handle customer queries, customer disputes and refunds on behalf of our builders (obviously we sometimes need to escalate, but we handle the day to day)
