My desktop is like my old college apartment: embarrassingly dirty. This is handy tool to hide a messy desktop before a presentation or demo.
h/t @calldrdave from Lifehacker for the find.
@calldrdave@rrhoover Really neat. Purely for aesthetics though. Has a bit of trouble with multiple desktops (wallpapers are all set to the same one and when using hot corners the icons re-appear). Once you enable HiddenMe you also can't drag and drop anything on the actual desktop (only via finder). That being said, it does work. I also sent this to my bro because his desktop needs it and he says it works. Good stuff!
@calldrdave@rrhoover I've been using Camouflage for a few years now for the same reason. Just double click the desktop and it'll open up your Finder to the Desktop too. :)
This is awesome. It'll probably make me even lazier about dumping files onto my desktop, but that's ok!

Another day... another product promoted that is "only available in the U.S. App Store". It happens so often that I'm considering unsubscribing from PH emails. I found it too @anthonymonori after a search of Mac App Store after the link opened the iTunes App Store, and I've already got it installed! I've auto-hidden my menubar and dock too so now I have one clean desktop with an incredible wallpaper! :)
Just posted Camouflage, since it's been my goto for years for this feature... I use it pretty religiously, both for piece of mind, and for when I'm giving a presentation. Camouflage has more features and is possibly better suited to nuanced setups than HiddenMe, but if all you want is a clear desktop and nothing more, HiddenMe will suffice!

Hmm, I'm a big fan of an app called XtraFinder (https://www.producthunt.com/l/e5...) which acts basically as a Mac Finder on steroids. It's superb. It has a whole bunch of additional features for the Finder, one of them being the option to hide all desktop icons with a simple keycombo. Very handy. En very free too.
