Good morning folks, We shipped this last week !! A free Chrome extension. Press ⌘⇧K on any Meet, Zoom, or Teams tab and Kai transcribes the call, then writes a clean summary + action items when you stop. 100% on-device. Whisper Base runs locally in your browser via WebGPU. No account. No upload. No bot in the call. Every meeting tool we tried wanted us to either pay per seat, sign up, send our audio to their servers, or drop a bot into the call. This one does none of that. It's free. It's going to stay free. It's also the first surface of Kai, the AI executive assistant we're building at Morgen. The Chrome extension is the entry point. Super impressive work getting Whisper Base running smoothly via WebGPU inside a Chrome extension! I've been experimenting with WASM implementations for local ML, and memory management inside a long-running browser tab is usually a nightmare. Have you guys run into any browser heap limits or thermal throttling issues during heavy, multi-hour calls? Especially on older Intel machines or base-model M1 Macs where Chrome is already fighting for RAM with Zoom or Teams running in parallel. Would love to know how you optimized the audio buffer processing without crashing the page. good job team

@henry_habib Thanks! In our testing, it works well for meetings ranging from ~15 minutes to 2 hours. Since the transcription and summarization run locally, processing time mainly depends on the user’s machine. We’re actually shipping an update tomorrow that lets the extension continue summarizing in the background, so users can keep working on something else and get notified when the summary, action items, and transcript are ready. As for accents, our tests have been pretty encouraging so far, but we’d love feedback on edge cases or accents that don’t perform as well. That’s exactly the kind of input that helps us improve the product :)

Congrats on the launch! This looks so cool, especially the "no account needed". But I'm also curious about if there's no sign-in, how does Kai handle meeting history? Is everything saved locally in the device?

@evakk Thanks, Evak! Yes, everything is saved locally on the device. Right now, users can store up to 5 meetings locally and access the transcript, summary, and action items without creating an account. When they want to keep or share the information, they can copy the entire meeting (transcript + summary + action items) in Markdown with a single click and paste it into Notion, Docs, or anywhere else. We’re trying to keep the experience as simple and private as possible.

Great product! Can it identify participants and organize the notes and action items based on who said what? Also according to your website, the transcript is sent to your servers for summarization yet the description above contradicts that by claiming it summarizes 100% on device.. or am I confusing something? Thanks!
