Locki now supports file encryption and decryption!
Files are encrypted directly in the browser, locally, and stay protected even when shared, without being uploaded, stored, and shared to any external servers.
This update also improves how keys are handled during decryption. Locki can now decrypt files and locked text using any key available in the extension, not just the primary one. This makes it easier to work with multiple keys and avoids unnecessary key switching when opening encrypted files.
Overall, this update makes encrypted file sharing simpler, more predictable, and better suited for real-world workflows.

Hey Product Hunt! π
Seven months ago, I released the first version of Locki on PH. It was a basic MVP for solo use, but your feedback pushed me to dream bigger. I've spent my evenings and weekends transforming it from a simple extension into a comprehensive B2B security platform. I'm excited to finally show you Locki v2.0 with organization accounts, team-wide access control, audit logs, and Smart Suggestions.
I built Locki because teams keep sharing sensitive data through tools they don't own, like Slack, email, shared docs, etc. The usual advice is "use a separate secure channel," which nobody actually does consistently.
Locki takes a different approach. Encrypt the text right where you're already working. The ciphertext travels with the content wherever you paste it. Locki users with the matching keys see a one-click decrypt button. Everyone else sees noise.
What's new in v2.0 (Teams Pro):
- Organization Accounts: IT admins can manage shared keys in groups and control team access.
- Smart Suggestions: Define rules to detect sensitive patterns (API keys, PII) and get a gentle nudge to encrypt them before hitting send.
- Full Audit Trail: Every encryption, decryption, and key rotation is logged with actor and context for compliance.
- Expanded Support: Locki now works inside more platforms, including Proton Mail and Google Chat.
As before, Locki works across Chrome (including chromium-based browsers like Edge, Brave, Opera), Firefox, and Safari, and all encryption/decryption happens locally on the user's device.
A note on Pricing & Plans:
Right now, Locki is available at a flat rate of $42/month for teams to keep it simple for early adopters. It also acts as a preventive measure against shared account misuse, ensuring security is tied to the organization, not a single login. I'm already planning a more affordable "Standard" tier for teams who don't need the full set of Enterprise features.
If you have thoughts on what that should look like, Iβm all ears!
@timteΒ congratulations on the launch. does it encrypt both data at rest and in motion?
Locki Security
@rohithajelaΒ Thanks! Locki focuses on data in motion, it encrypts sensitive text before it leaves your hands, right inside Slack, Gmail, Jira, etc. The ciphertext travels with the content wherever itβs pasted or sent, and only teammates with the matching key can decrypt it. Org keys are stored encrypted on our servers (not in plaintext), so thereβs a layer of protection at rest as well, but the core use case is protecting what your team shares, before itβs shared.ββββββββββββββββ
