@msitver thanks for this article! I'm building a scalable way for any creator to do this and make the bulk of their core revenue from the model. For me, your suggestion that "this model is never going to be the major revenue generator for artists" strikes a nerve and proposes a challenge that we at DMM are very passionate about solving! I took my first group on a light jet today - felt amazing to give them that experience. They'll remember that forever, as will I. Somehow I believe that they'll support me and the music for as long as they can afford to do so.

@staticsteven I love what Jack and Tyler and Heather are doing at Patreon. I use the platform for my studio videos. For the 1000 people in the lifetime song-per-month model I really need an API that will talk to my phone and an easy delivery mechanism for the content. @Delk has been a real champ with this rollout and Gumroad's focus on (nearly) frictionless payments + multiple language checkout + the consumer facing mobile app were the deciding factors here for me. We could have built this ourselves - the challenge was I had the idea on Friday and released at midnight! Hahahahahah!
