Omarchy is an omakase Linux desktop on Arch, Hyprland, and Quickshell. It ships a complete keyboard-first workstation with system-wide themes, packaged updates, and coding agents that can reshape the setup instead of making you assemble it yourself.

everything is just a file or a shell command instead of hidden behind a GUI settings panel, so when something breaks you can actually find the thing that broke it. the keyboard-first setup on Hyprland is fast once the muscle memory kicks in, and the themes are consistent across the whole desktop instead of every app having its own idea of dark mode. having agents that can reshape the config on request instead of you hand-editing dotfiles all weekend is the part that actually changes how much you touch it after the first install

the one thing missing for me is a clean rollback story when an agent reshapes part of the config. dotfiles being plain files is great for reading them, but there's no built-in diff-and-revert for a single agent-made change, so you're stuck relying on your own git discipline to undo something that went subtly wrong

I looked at NixOS first because reproducible builds sounded like the right answer to config drift. the config language and rebuild model there is a much bigger jump if you're not already comfortable with a declarative approach, and I wanted something I could get productive on the same day. Omarchy still gets you a coherent, inspectable system, it just leans on plain files and Arch packages instead of a whole new configuration language
