quick fyi : Using this chrome extension causes DOM issues for me with Chrome. Some elements can no longer be clicked and I have to refresh the page constantly.
@evankimbrell Thanks for the interest in Referred Club. I have not used RetailMeNot.com before however they appear to focus on coupon/discount codes for the purpose of discounting a purchase. Referred Club specializes in aggregating and surfacing referral links for the purpose of receiving benefits at the point of new user signup.
@joeszynal retailmenot has a glut of referral codes on it. Just search for Uber or any of the same companies and you'll see the new user freebies with someone's name attached to it
@evankimbrell - I think a browser extension is much more convenient, but wouldn't consider it the main differentiator.
On RetailMeNot, you're giving the referral credit to some unknown account. If you were thinking of joining a service, you could look it up on ReferredClub and see which of your friends is using it. You could then reach out and ask that friend whether he'd refer it. If you chose to use that service, you could credit the friend who referred you.
On RetailMeNot, you couldn't ask a friend about the service and couldn't direct the referral bonus. The perk to the referrer is most often greater than the perk to the referred... on RetailMeNot, that's some stranger.
We were considering building a type of "scoring" system. If Joe has used my referral links three times, and Earl twice, I'd probably click Joe's link if the two drop down next time I'm on a site with referral links.
@tomcharde thanks for the question. We had originally planned on a Firefox extension but it was de-prioritized sometime in the last year. After seeing all the positive feedback from the PH community the topic will be re-visited for sure.
Thanks for the feedback, @kleaklass - we'd have to find another way to associate you with other users, to know who's referral links to show. I guess we could do that with other social networks or with a "friending" system.
