An Avatar-based social hub with meetings, social games and activities. Providing a sense of presence and a digital watercooler to connect your team. A fun way to build stronger social relationships together through play.
@juan_godoy Hi Juan, thank you for your interest in Remotely! Good spotting! Our overall vision is to have many interconnecting islands that belong to loads of different companies, communities and brands. This would allow users to meet up, have endless experiences and discover new locations. It maybe that this leads towards Web3 and the metaverse.
@juan_godoy the one good thing about 3D environments, is we can make them immersive. Take visitors to new places and experiences. The floating islands is the start of that visual journey.
@juan_godoy So we can add more floating island with more content while maintaining a cohesive universe! This way you can keep an eye on new floating islands and see what's coming.

Some other products replicate the office, why didn't remotely do that?
@genosog Hey Bobby, thanks for supporting our launch. This is a great question. We felt that the 'virtual office' space was quite congested and to be honest recreating a virtual office didn't excite the team. Or really solve the problem most remote working teams were facing. To better understand the strain on a remote working teams, we went remote first. We also started user interviews and user testing. What became apparent is that what people really missed was the informal social time and connections at work. Better known as 'water cooler moments'. Those moments where you bump into someone that you don't necessarily work directly with but neither the less you stop to chat to. This is what Remotely was trying to replicate for remote workers. Our solution to this challenge is structured social games. Whilst fun, they are also designed to improve communication and strengthen informal social networks. A 'digital water cooler' if you will.
@genosog Cool question, thanks. We just felt with infinite creativity at our means- just recreating the office would have been a missed opportunity. Plus people dont really miss the office- they miss the people and thats why we focussed on social connection.
@simplyalritch thanks for the comment. Everything we've learnt so far about the platform points to yes. Playing a game is a nice informal way to connect with someone. It helps to break the ice and make them feel a bit more relaxed. The whole recruitment and onboarding process can be stressful for new staff members. Especially if they are working remote. So why not mix it up and encourage a bit of fun.
@simplyalritch Playing games is a great way to really get to know someone. Breaks the ice easily and gives a safe medium by which to get to know someone through a fun, shared experience.
@ds_fam Hi Darshi, we'd advise using a DSL Connection or WIFI, we wouldn't advise hotspoting from a mobile to a PC or laptop whilst using Remotely. This being said the Development team have worked hard to reduce load times and assets sizes. Once you've loaded into Remotely the first time all of your settings will be in you browser cache for faster load times.
@ds_fam because we're only using voice and currently don't offer video in the solution (other than screen sharing) the data consumption is minimal in comparison to video applications like Zoom. Estimated to be around 10% of what you would consume on Zoom or other meeting tools with video.
@hear_me_roar_kids thank you for those awesome suggestions! Over time Remotely will be adding more content, which will include more avatar types as well as costumes. We'll have to write these ideas down though, they are excellent!
@hear_me_roar_kids You and me both. I love how much customisation and expression is available out of the box. It really makes sense for what the platform is trying to achieve.

@matthew_bowen yeah I'm really enjoying the non human avatars. Sometimes I feel like a break from reality and this seems like a novel way to do that.

Hi there!!
I see you have meeting rooms in remotely-why is that?
@cami_godoy_morris Hi Cami, thanks for your interest in Remotely. In the development process we conducted user interviews and asked our users to rank what was important to them. The ability to host private meetings, share screen and present was high on the list, but more than this users wanted to be able to seamlessly move from a meeting into a breakout space and into a activity. We also found they early testers enjoyed being able to catch up prior to game and afterwards to debrief. This is where our 'Hub & Spoke' design originated. 😊
@cami_godoy_morris there is still a functional need to meet as a team. The amazing thing is your remote working team can be in different cities or countries and still have asynchronous communication as if they were all physically together in the same room. You walk up and start talking together. Meeting rooms give you the ability to have different sized and private meetings.

What type of companies are using Remotely at the moment?
@hear_me_roar_kids There is quite a broad range of companies using Remotely, but we are seeing Remote working Tech companies and Universities as the biggest emerging segments at the moment. And they are located all around the world.
@hear_me_roar_kids thanks for the great question. We've had enquiry from companies all over the world including well known global brands. Companies are anywhere from SME to large Enterprise sized companies but are generally seeking activities for their specific teams. Like their marketing or sales departments. This shows us 1) that the problem we're out to solve is as wide spread as we thought. And 2) that companies are seeking something to help with their teams social activities.
