@whatchuptu That is a great question. Yes, the team made the decision to work fully remote to better understand the challenges that remote workers were facing. We thought it was important for us to 'eat our own cooking' so to speak. As fate would have it, this was actually about 6 months before the Covid pandemic.
@whatchuptu Yes the Remotely team have built a remote working company, while building a remote working platform. Nothing like eating your own dogfood to figure out the pain points!

@gene_harris Oh wow, I thought I was guna catch you guys out with that one...haha 'gotcha'! That's actually really interesting that you were working remote before the pandemic. Do you find that there are lots of different countries that use remotely or are they mostly in say the US?
@whatchuptu haha yes, it was a really important step for us. One learnt a lot from. Particularly as we were able to observe a massive upswing to remote work due to the pandemic. To answer that we've seen interest from all over the world, South East Asia, South Africa, the US, the UK and Europe. We purposefully built infrastructure to be global from day one. We felt that if we could solve the problem locally we could apply these learnings globally.
@gene_harris@whatchuptu Remote working teams that use Remotely are fairly distributed from around the world. We've seen great interest from countries such as the USA, Canada and UK in particular. In saying that our very first subscriber is based in South Africa. So very much a global platform.
@pixel_liszt thanks for your interest in our launch!
Remotely is best suited for remote working teams in Tech, SaaS and Health, working in Human Resources and Team management roles.
The feedback we have so far from high performing teams is that Remotely, allows them to easily and repeatedly get together, and have fun in a risk free environment.
Sometimes when the work you do is very serious/ stressful, breaking the ice with a game can be just what the doctor ordered. A happy team is a stable team.
@pixel_liszt in regards to team size, our current games are designed for 4-12 players. But this being said, it is possible to split groups into multiple games and mix n' match groups. We find that the best bonding tends to happen with smaller groups when played regularly, say at least 20 mins a week of structured social play.
@ds_fam great question! With our current avatar bases there are over 350,000 unique combinations.....however that being said, we have some great plans for future avatar content. Stay tuned for more in the coming months.
@ds_fam We have barely scratched the surface of costumes. An exciting update is in the works that will add a ton more flexibillity and options for the character creators out there.
@ds_fam Hi Darshi, great question. Yes, once you enter the 'Meeting Space' you can enter a 'Private Meeting Space' in here you'll notice a screen share option in the navigation. You may choose from browser tabs, multiple screens or windows to screen share. There is also an audio share option if you are presenting a video. 🎧
@brad_sonny_talbz great question! At Remotely we feel that there are thousands of productivity tools in the marketplace already. The Remotely Hub is a social tool. This is more about coming together for digital watercooler moments to focus on relationship building and communication. Although you can hold virtual conferences in Remotely. It doesn’t replace tools like Zoom or Google Hangouts, but rather fills the social tool gap that most remote teams have.
Every now and then it’s nice to break the monotony of back-to-back Zoom calls or simply re-energize the team with a team puzzle or game.
Over time Remotely will build more original games, content and experiences and offer endless team fun and activities.

@gene_harris i love the digital watercooler moments. I'll go check it out. thanks man!
@robr Great question.
Just the same as in a physical office, team building activities help coworkers to form stronger bonds, build trust and get to know each other. This is important for a strong working relationship. Industry studies show that those who [have a best friend at work] are seven times as likely to be engaged in their jobs, are better at engaging customers, produce higher quality work, have higher well-being, and are less likely to get injured on the job.
Furthermore, they are:
>less likely to be actively looking or watching for job opportunities
>more connected with their coworkers, knowing what is expected of them and trusting their integrity and ethics
>more likely to have a positive experience during the day, such as enjoying what they do, making more progress and getting recognized for successes
>less likely to report having a negative experience during the day such as worry, stress and feeling tired
Who wouldn't want their staff to feel those things?
With just 20mins a week dedicated to social play, remote teams can build relationships which help them appreciate their colleagues, get to know them better and improve their well-being.
@robr its a legitimate question-really all depends on the type of culture you want create for your remote working team and don't forget they might like to be part of a social team, so have a chat with your team about this and get the right set up for yourselves.

Considering it’s all virtual, does it take up a lot data?
@shail_kumar Thanks for the question Shail. Not at all, we've specifically designed our assets to load quickly and load time to be short. All handled through your Chrome browser with no need to download anything. Once you've loaded in once, your cache builds up and it's even faster the second time around.
