I think there is probably some consumer demand for this but I'd find it more useful to find out if what I'm looking at is counterfeit or a cheap knock-off of the original. Often you have to read the reviews manually to see that what you are looking at is an inferior version.

Thanks David! You make a great point. Definitely looking to add features in the near future that address this pain point.

Hi Product Hunt!
In my final year of college, all my friends were talking about side hustles like dropshipping. That's when a delightfully contrarian idea occurred to me: what if there was an app for reverse dropshipping?
Dropshipping is when a seller finds a cheap product on a site like Aliexpress, and re-lists it on a site like Amazon for a much higher price. When you buy the product on Amazon, the seller simply buys it from Aliexpress, and ships it straight to you.
Essentially, they’re profiting from your lack of information.
This extension uses Generative AI to find the original source, so that you pay the original price, not the inflated one!
If it is a brand name product, the extension will tell you that it is unlikely to be dropshipped, and show you cheap alternatives.
@chrismessina thank you Chris! Your support is what keeps this project going!

Hey!
Growth marketer here, Are you open for strategic rebranding?
Consider a name such as "~Find Me Better Price~" and position it in the market as a tool empowering users to discover cost-effective alternatives on various platforms.
This approach could significantly enhance your Total Addressable Market (TAM) and simplify your marketing efforts.
Often, success lies in how you present your product, with the immediate user benefit taking precedence over industry-specific terms like dropshipping.
Lets connect and try something if you are open to it.
Cheers!

@tej_sai appreciate the feedback, Tej! I think you are correct that a simpler name could improve the marketing efforts!
I really like the idea and you have my upvote, but I just found out that it the extension is limited geographically, so I cannot really test it. Make sure to maybe relaunch once I can use it in Europe?

@wintoniak thanks for the feedback, Constantin! To use the extension from a currently unsupported region, just browse on amazon.com, which is the primary platform with the most product listings. And yes, will definitely add support for your specific region in the near future 😃

It looks promising, I genuinely love the idea! Yet, I could not find the privacy policy for this product, which raises some questions for me to add as an extension. Could you please provide information on that? Other than that it is genius!! Congrats!

@ezgicemrer Hi Ezgi, thanks for your support! There is a "privacy policy" link in the Chrome web store page. All extensions are manually reviewed by Google and they must have a valid privacy policy in order to be published. Hope this helps!

The kind of simple extension that makes people think "why didn't I think of this." 🤯 Hope the service is smooth as it seems folks. can't wait to try.

Very nice tool. However, when the user is on an Amazon page, it should automatically display a large icon docked on the right side of the screen, like how Honey does. Seeing this icon appear would remind the user to run an analysis on the page before buying the product.
