Scrintal is the Playground for the Mind - the most enjoyable way to shape ideas. A powerful canvas where insights are built one block at a time. We make the transition between thinking, writing, and sharing instant, without switching context.

Review Scrintal?
Reviewers mostly praise Scrintal for combining a visual canvas with linked notes in a way that helps them brainstorm, research, plan projects, map workflows, and connect complex ideas without losing structure. They describe it as intuitive, flexible, and especially useful for visual thinkers, collaborative work, and non-linear tasks like strategy, study, and documentation. The main caveats are narrower: one team said performance felt slow enough to hurt long-term adoption, and another reviewer felt it is still less feature-complete than a full personal knowledge management tool.

Scrintal has all the features I need for my knowledge practice. Features that, together, no other app has. I can focus on a particular document, I can navigate seamlessly from document to document via links, or I can Zoom out and organise multiple documents (ideas, in my case) in a visual board.
I can see on a board the logical links I create between ideas or I can have temporary links that exist only within a board (something that Obsidian Canvas doesn't have).
I can have elements on a visual board, but I can also create seamless connections between separate documents via links (something Miro doesn't have).
I can easily have a board "holding the context" for all links I am creating within a document so I can look at how those links create connections between groups of documents (something Heptabase doesn't have).
And on top of all that, I can collaborate with others.
Scrintal has become my tool of choice back in 2022 and I haven't looked back since.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review Bianca! It’s always great to hear how well Scrintal fits into your knowledge practice and how you’re leveraging features like boards, linking, and collaboration in every comment, video or post you share. Your comparisons with other tools really highlight what makes Scrintal unique, and it’s so rewarding to know it’s become your go-to since 2022. Thanks again for sharing your experience—it truly means a lot!
As a software developer who frequently needs to organize complex ideas and workflows, Scrintal has been a revelation. This tool brilliantly combines the flexibility of a whiteboard with the structure of a note-taking app in a way I've never seen before.
What truly sets Scrintal apart is its seamless transition between thinking, writing, and sharing. The canvas-based approach allows me to visualize connections between different concepts while maintaining detailed documentation within each node. I've found this particularly valuable when mapping out system architectures and business processes for our cross-border return service operations.
The ability to build insights block by block has transformed how I approach problem-solving. Whether I'm brainstorming new features, documenting API workflows, or collaborating with team members, Scrintal provides the perfect balance of freedom and structure.

I have been using Scrintal for about two years—and I wish I had found it sooner. From my perspective, Scrintal would have been a game-changer in my academic success, regardless of my age. As the world is increasingly recognizing, visual thinkers often struggle with linear thinking, while individuals with ADHD face challenges with organization. The traditional note-taking method has remained stagnant, simply evolving from physical to digital formats. While computers made searching and categorizing easier, the approach remained linear.
Scrintal addresses this dilemma by offering both flexibility and rigidity. It caters to those who loathe constraints while providing enough structure for those who prefer organization.
Scrintal seamlessly integrates an infinite canvas (playground!) with bidirectional linking. If you want to host a zettelkasten in the same space where you brainstorm, plan, and play with those ideas, I highly recommend Scrintal. In other software, where you ONLY have bidrectional linking between text documents or ONLY have an infinite canvas, the tasks of research and project planning get siloed. Scrintal is intuitive (to me) and enjoyable to use.
My team tried Scrintal to build connected notes and ideas. I used it to organize thoughts for a product roadmap. The concept is smart, but it feels a bit slow at times. We liked the visual layout, but performance issues made it hard to commit long term.
Scrintal is an incredible app! Our team has used it for a little over a year and it has revolutionized how we work together to brainstorm ideas and work through creative processes. But, that is just the beginning, Scrintal has also helped us map out all of our events, promotional material, strategic plans, mood boards, timelines, general ideas/thinking, etc. Scrintal has been a gamechanger for us! And now with V2 Playground for the Mind, we can do even more with Scrintal! I look forward to continuing to use Scrintal and find even more ways to utilize it. The use cases seem to be endless!
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🙌 It’s incredibly rewarding to hear how Scrintal has become such a valuable tool for your team over the past year. Knowing that it has helped you brainstorm, plan events, and strategize makes all the hard work behind it so worthwhile.
I’m especially glad to hear you’re excited about V2—Playground for the Mind was designed with teams like yours in mind, and your feedback is exactly what motivates us to keep pushing boundaries. I can’t wait to see how you and your team will continue to make Scrintal your own!
Scrintal is one of those unique tools that you never knew you needed until you start using it and realize you can't live without it! I started using it in August and it truly is a Playground for the Mind, allowing you to get all of your jumbled thoughts out on a blank canvas. I love that it's accessible via your browser and how easy it is to use. It's now my favorite mind-mapping tool! :)
Thank you so much, Razane! 💜 Your words truly made our day! It’s amazing to hear that Scrintal has become such an essential part of your workflow. We designed Playground for the Mind exactly for that purpose—It’s all about turning clutter into clarity, and we’re so glad it’s helping. 🧠
It is an excellent application that supports our thinking processes. We can use it for research purposes. It does a fantastic job of linking notes and surfacing developing themes across different boards, each board being an unlimited canvas, hence the appellation "playground for the mind".
A canvas tool with a lot of thought behind user experience. While not as feature filled as other offerings (not really a full PKM in my opinion), it's trying to build a solid base where PKM and Open Canvas can live together, which is quite the noble goal.
I've used Scrintal in my strategy work for our next fund V. Combining limitless canvas, blocks, and documents has been excellent for boosting my creative thinking while driving concrete outcomes within the same tool.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience Sami. Using Scrintal for strategy building started to rise as a common use case. I see Scrintal evolving to support that use case even further.
