@aparkhills For me, it's three things: 1) We are really focused on being "the easiest" and this means removing as many possible choices as we can, so you can get an awesome site published ASAP (we find that a lot of people fail to publish in this space). 2) We are focused on helping you craft a great story about yourself, again without too many distractions (hopefully, in a similar way to how Medium makes it easy to "just write"). 3) Our format is skewed towards those that have the need for a portfolio/want to show off their projects (i.e. developers, designers, entrepreneurs, creatives, etc.).
We are certainly not the first product in this space (definitely a lot of other options), but hopefully our different angle and design sensibilities resonate with at least some people. We recognize, even with all the options out there, that most people still don't have a personal site -- so we hope to help with that.

Super quick, really 3 minutes to deploy, awesome job. Do I have a way to unpublish a site?
@ofirchakon Not currently. If you want to completely delete your site, you can email us and we will take care of it. There's no way to save your data and not publish the site. (Right now, we are really trying to encourage live edits. We think this pushes people to successfully create, iterate, and share).

Interesting concept, and easy to use! What is your tech stack?
@goransv123 thanks! We are using Rails 5 on Heroku. Everything is rendered server side and I have to say, working with Rails 5 has been a great experience!

Hi! it's really cool :)
Why you cannot insert skills?
@gianluca_tursi Hey Gianluca. Glad you like the site! We are always happy to hear feature ideas, so thank you for your suggestion.
That being said, we are very thoughtful about the features we add (since we want to keep Somebody as simple as possible). Here's a piece I wrote on Medium about how we embraced constraints to build Somebody: https://medium.com/@maxdeutsch/t...
@svenvd_zee Thanks, Sven! We are really focused on removing as much choice paralysis as possible, so I'm not sure we would ever allow theme selection upfront. Perhaps, once you publish your site, we give the option to choose which theme/skin you want to apply...
Anyway, this is something we are thinking about. We want to keep it as easy as possible to click "Publish".
@luisfpinto_ Hey Luis, Thanks for the feedback! We are trying to figure out how to create different templates without ruining the simplicity of the site... You can follow updates on Medium: https://medium.com/@maxdeutsch
