Spring helps you launch a scooter rental business: π± Apps with your branding π Dashboard to manage metrics π΄ββοΈ The best scooters, at cost π Help with government permits
In the spring of 2018, I took my first ride on an electric scooter. I quickly saw how they could change cities for the better by providing a fun, cheap, and convenient way of getting around.
I had recently left my previous job and I wanted to work in the industry. With a background in software engineering, I interviewed at Bird and Lime and contracted for Skip. I had job offers on the table, but I didnβt end up joining any of the companies.
All of the scooter companies felt the same. They all said they were building a βcustomβ scooter and that they wanted to be friends with city governments, but in reality, they were totally focused on raising money to buy scooters.
Since then, the industry has evolved. But it's still tough for new operators to get that ground. And that's where Spring comes in.
Spring helps new companies launch and makes it *really* easy. Since starting 4 months ago, we've already launched 4 companies in the US including:
- Kuhmute β Launched in Flint Michigan by two college students. They are building docking stations for scooters.
- Boaz β Launched in Atlanta and Detroit. Emil is a Christian musician who developed a custom scooter with a seat.
Would love to hear what y'all think!

We've found that Spring has been great in user experience for our riders, and on the operation side for us to manage our scooters and charging infrastructure. We decided to use Spring because of the super fast pace to market for our pilot. Highly recommend the Spring and KUHMUTE hub combo to anyone starting an escooter rideshare.
Wow, congrats! I've always thought there was an opportunity by franchising tech like this and I wish you the very best, not only for you but because I'd like to see other startups in other industries trying this model.

I wish you the very best as well. I think a field that could be improved is algorithms for determining good positions where the scooters are brought out and areas where the service area should be (based on previous performance). I'm currently trying to do something like this as well (just out of interest), and I think that using the right logic, scooter companies could slowly expand their service area instead of only focusing on the positions with the most demand, by seeing "opportunity positions" where demand would be high if supply was there.
