Synthesia is an AI-driven video creation platform that promises to deliver high-quality videos with customizable avatars. However, my experience with the platform has been highly disappointing due to several critical issues that undermine its usability and value. Key Issues Excessive Time for Avatar Generation Creating a custom avatar takes an unreasonably long time, often spanning a couple of days. This delays the entire video production process significantly. Mandatory Human Review for Every Video Every video generated on Synthesia requires human review, which adds another couple of days to the process. This mandatory step defeats the purpose of using AI for quick and efficient video production. Contradicts the Purpose of AI The core appeal of AI video platforms is to enable rapid creation of high-quality videos. Unfortunately, Synthesia’s policies and processes are the exact opposite, resulting in frustrating delays and inefficiencies. High Costs with Frequent Errors The platform’s pricing is exorbitantly high, with subscription plans starting at a premium. To make matters worse, the platform frequently encounters errors, and videos often fail to render, stalling at 99% completion. This unreliability is unacceptable for a paid service.

I signed up for Synthesia to create videos for my client, a legitimate financial institution. Unfortunately, I quickly discovered that the platform was unsuitable for our needs, as their policies do not allow financial institutions to create videos. This critical limitation was not clear prior to purchasing the subscription. When I contacted Synthesia's support team to request more details and a refund, the experience was extremely disappointing. My queries about why the video rejected went unanswered, and support was slow and unhelpful. Despite using the platform for only two days, Synthesia refused to issue a refund, citing their strict no-refund policy. As someone who runs a digital marketing agency and regularly works with software and AI platforms, I expected much better customer service. Synthesia's lack of responsiveness, transparency, and unwillingness to accommodate legitimate users is unacceptable. I recommend creatify as a better alternative (with amazing support) to Synthesia.

Unacceptable Service – Account Banned Within 30 Minutes! I subscribed to Synthesia, paid for a 1-month subscription, and within 30 minutes, my account was banned without any valid reason. I was simply creating a promotional video for my dental clinic about dental implant pricing, which is completely legitimate and complies with their terms of service. To make matters worse, the appeal process doesn’t work—the form they provided is broken, leaving me with no way to contest the ban or request a refund. This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. If you’re considering using this service, think twice. They ban accounts arbitrarily, provide poor support, and leave paying customers without answers. I am extremely disappointed and feel scammed. Avoid this platform if you value your time and money!

All these reasons are why, for me, it was easy to choose this for my go-to corporate training video creation tool.

The ultimate best AI video generator! The studio is intuitive and easy to navigate and the quality of the AI avatars is plainly superb, so much much better than of the competitors. The lip synch, emotion expressions, variety. I use it for easily communicate my strategy to the clients. Adding visuals and screen recordings really helps to visualise the point I am trying to make. It is way better than just sending over a doc to read through. Usually I combine those 2.

ProductHunt Users Beware: Synthesia Warning - Fraudulent and Unprofessional Service! I feel compelled to warn fellow ProductHunt users about my recent experience with Synthesia. Not only did I find their service to be of poor quality and unprofessional, but when I requested a refund, I was met with what appears to be a fraudulent scheme. Initially, they agreed to process my refund within five days. However, this deadline came and went with no refund in sight. When I attempted to follow up, I was met with automated messages claiming they were "busy" and would "get back to me in a few days." Unfortunately, these promises have proven to be empty, and I am left feeling deceived and frustrated. It is disheartening to see a company on ProductHunt engage in such unethical practices. I urge all users to be cautious when considering doing business with Synthesia. Do your due diligence and research before committing to any purchase, as you may find yourself in a similar situation, battling a company that seems to prioritize deception over customer satisfaction. Stay vigilant and take care!

The overall experience was refreshing! To be able to test and utilize the features with our team, and show different ways information can be curated and shared was exciting. Jarod Groome, was very helpful at answering our key questions, intuitive in addressing some of our pain points and helping us think deeper about the wealth of uses. He also understood our sector so it was nice to thought partner. We look forward to exploring this product further in our work including onboarding processes and our client work.

I’ve tested synthesia on a few client demos and it helps a lot when i need a polished video fast. the avatars deliver the script well and it removes the hassle of recording myself. really useful for repeatable content.

Very labor intensive to use, too much time and video quality is meh. Monthly Pricing sign up is only certain length videos so you are able to see the finished version for review in the monthly membership. This is extremely misleading and forces the customer to either sign up for the year to see what the video looks like or wait 30 more days. If I had to do it all over again, it would be a no brain HARD PASS!
