This business is built on the backs of the quiet daily efforts and discipline of so many who never get recognized for it. High time they got some shine!

Because African tech companies cannot compete on the same level with their western counterparts, I hope there would be an award to recognize top talents from the continent.

Too often we only hear the stories of CEOs, while the real work occurs in the trenches. It's time to hear stories from the people who actually make the products we use everyday and recognize their contributions.
Erik, I love this idea. In a paradigm that so often becomes too enamored with Top Ten and 30 Under 30 lists, here is something with the potential to outgrow the skin of CEO-focused rankings and achieve something more. Performance, achievements, and reputation are what matter, titles are not.
It draws deeply from the mindset which @saca, @msuster, @hunterwalk, and many others promote of creating value for others before asking for oneself. As such, it equally has the potential to promote more cohesive and positive team dynamics than other awards might.
Interestingly enough, it reminds me of something Harry Truman said: "The buck stops here."
That's a mindset which CEO's and leaders should have: when things go wrong, it's your responsibility to figure out how to make it right, and when things are going right, you credit your team before crediting yourself, because you couldn't have reached any of those milestones without them.
The last great thing that immediately pops out to me here is the immense focus on community. Community is what really makes @ProductHunt special, and is something wildly more valuable than any trophy or certificate. It engenders a magnetic and inclusive dynamic that founders and team members can continue to build on and refine.
Brilliant job @eriktorenberg!

This is super interesting although I would have loved to see *content* as a category, for content marketers, content strategists, knowledgebase professionals, storytellers, and brand journalists. Also, *content* is the skill that often brings together - product design (UX where content is again central), marketing, and customer support.
Love this project. You hear founders talking up their team, but it's crazy there hasn't been a way to publicly acknowledge folks handling 95% of the output in this industry.

Love it, Erik. Teams are always the un-sung heros publicly. They make the wheels turn quietly and really can be all the difference between good vs. great. As has been mentioned with such a stacked lineup of awesome judges this will be fun to watch, nominate and to learn about the hidden ppl who just gsd!
