Take control of your information with TiddlyWiki, the great information manager with the unfortunate name. It works anywhere a browser works. If they still have browsers in the 22nd century, your great-great grand kids will be able to read your diary. Unless you have decided to encrypt it -- which you can do with the click of a button. It's been around for nearly 2 decades and the team is making plans through 2034. Roll your own Roam (tm), chart your garden, reference your own bookmarks, make your own travel list, organize your shopping list, Get Things Done, or entertain yourself not getting things done, carry your notes with you, or encrypt them and slap them on a server, whatever it is you want to do, you can do it with TiddlyWiki and the help of the great tiddlywiki community.

TiddlyWiki can be a simple journal that somehow keeps memories local to your devices and easy to find for 20 years, or a personal in-browser app framework, if you're susceptible to nerd sniping. Use it to practice your JavaScript if you want! Product Hunt wants me to say what alternatives I've considered. There wasn't anything comparable when I started using TW. Since then, I've tried a lot of note-taking and journalling solutions, and rolled my own web apps and spreadsheets. If I would like to be able to find it again in 5 years or more, I know to put it into my standalone single-file TiddlyWiki. Short of writing into plain text files, you can't get more reliable and durable, but tiddlers are easier to organise. Kudos to Jeremy and the TW community for keeping the ball rolling. Excited for this new release!

TiddlyWiki is a fantastic, open source, hyper-extensible app which can also be a single html file. I have found it to be a joy to use and to adapt, and it has a friendly, helpful community of fellow enthusiasts behind it. For the past year or two, I've been using it principally to write and explore ideas on all kinds of topics, but it has also started to become the place I store contact details, track habits, plan my day, take reading notes, and learn through spaced repetition and retrieval practice. It is an incredibly versatile piece of software with fantastic hypermedia capabilities. THANK YOU to Jeremy Ruston for creating it, and to the super-helpful community which supports it, and which I learn from every week.

Extremely powerful, flexible, and extendable. Advertises itself for note-taking and journaling, but can be used to create virtually anything you desire. It does have a steep learning curve, but this is more of an issue with the documentation than with the software itself, and the community is incredibly friendly and kind to beginners. I have used it for 4 years and it's been part of my everyday life since.

Fantastic for personal website masters and Digital Garden Builders, very competent in managing fragmented pieces of short notes and quick reference information. Also good for practicing Personal Digital Zettelkasten (or Luhman Slip-box Note-taking method)
