As a current WeLive member, I can tell you that this new living community is AMAZING! Apartments are fully furnished, very modern and everyone is extremely friendly. This made my move from SF to NY so much easier. If you are looking for a place to live in NY or DC, you should definitively check it out!
👍 if you think about the constraints that entrepreneurs and early stage employees are under when signing rental agreements vs the riskiness of their startups and the likelihood they will fail, this makes perfect sense. #disrupthousing
Love the concept! Would like to here from people who are more familiar with housing in NYC how cheap or expensive these apartments are though!
According to Techcrunch the "least expensive deal is a shared Studio Plus apartment, that comes with two beds, and starts at $1375/month. [...] For an extra $150, users will have access to a full set of amenities, including monthly cleaning, high-speed internet and Verizon cable."
So realistically you'll pay at least $1500/month - is that cheap or expensive in NYC?

@lehrjulian Pretty reasonable if that's true. Curious about the cheapest single-person unit.

I know WeLive mentions there are private apartments, but I'm getting the impression the kitchen is communal as well as other areas that I would consider being part of a private apartment. Can @srcasm clarify?
@joelle_writes@srcasm All units have a kitchen, a fridge, a TV, etc. The communal kitchen is a bigger kitchen where we host events such as 'Family Dinner', occasional breakfasts, cooking classes etc. It's a great place to hang out and meet people.
@delwilliams now they only need to build a bridge between them, or create WeDrive to commute between them:)

Miami needs this - we get requests daily from students and young professionals looking for short-term accommodations (usually need housing for a few months). How does pricing look like in NY/DC?
