Still using PDF templates in Goodnotes?
It's time to stop wandering from one PDF to another—come to Whatting! You can create your own custom diary layout by combining widgets just the way you like.
This is the first time a diary app has actually fit how I think and plan. No more forcing my routine into someone else’s template Whatting lets me design my day, my way. It’s playful, practical, and totally personal.
I’ve tried every diary app, but this is the one that finally stuck. Designing my own layout each day makes journaling feel fresh again. Goodbye, PDF templates 👋
I'm Chanwoo, the founder of Whatting a diary app built for the way we actually live today.
Whatting was born from a simple frustration: "Why hasn't the diary fully gone digital yet?" If you’ve ever tried journaling on your iPad, you’ve probably run into one (or all) of these:
🔍 Digging through endless PDF templates 📝 Using note-taking apps that aren’t really made for diaries 🧩 Trying to squeeze your life into one rigid layout
I felt the same pain — so I built Whatting to fix it. With Whatting, you can literally compose your own diary.
Instead of picking one layout, you build your own from modular, standalone widgets like:
✅ Design your own layout — just the way you like it ✅ Each widget works like a mini app made just for diary use ✅ Themes, widgets, styles — all tailored to your lifestyle
Arrange everything however you want: a clean grid, a creative collage, or something entirely unique. As your life changes, so does your space. This is my very first Product Hunt launch. I built this with care — and even if just one person finds it useful, I’ll keep listening and improving. If this sounds like something you’ve been looking for, I’d love for you to be one of the very first to try it. Thanks so much for checking it out!
@chanwoo_kim I remember searching for an app like this multiple times. The design looks sweet and it really seems to contain every feature I wanted! Great!!
Congrats on the launch and good luck distributing it 🍀
This means so much — thank you! 💛 We made Whatting for people who’ve been searching just like you, so hearing this is incredibly rewarding. Really appreciate the kind words and well wishes! 🍀
Thank you so much! 🙌 We truly believe modularity is the key to personal expression — so glad it helped the diary come to life for you. Appreciate the kind words! 💛

@chanwoo_kim this is so beautifully done, I love how intentional and human Whatting feels. The modular widget approach is genius, especially for those of us who’ve bounced between note apps and PDF templates without anything ever quite fitting.
Also, huge respect for starting with iPad to prioritize creative freedom ; that says a lot about your design values. Can’t wait to see the iPhone version too! Rooting for you and the journey ahead.
Wow… this means the world to us 🥹💛 You put into words exactly what we hoped people would feel — human, intentional, and built for those of us who never quite fit the mold. Starting with iPad was a love letter to creative freedom, and hearing that it resonated makes it all worth it. iPhone version is coming soon — and we can’t wait to share what’s next. Thank you so much for your beautiful support!

@chanwoo_kimWhatting radiates that creative freedom and thoughtful intention — it’s honestly rare to come across something that feels this human in the productivity space.
iPhone version?? YES PLEASE. Can’t wait to see where you take it next!
Also, I’m working on launching PageX soon — it’s a Chrome extension for instant SEO + content audits (clean UI, no fluff, all in one click). Will definitely ping you when it’s live — would love your support if it resonates 🙏
This message made our whole team smile — thank you so much 🥹💛 We’ve always dreamed of bringing something more human to the productivity world, and we’re beyond grateful it came through.
And YES to the iPhone version — it’s on the way! 📱✨
PageX sounds amazing — super clean, useful tools are exactly what we love. Can’t wait to check it out when you launch — absolutely here to support you! 🙌

@chanwoo_kim Really love the modular approach it feels like the first diary that adapts to you instead of the other way around. Congrats on the launch! 👏
Thank you so much! 🙌 That’s exactly what we hoped to create — a diary that adapts to you, not the other way around. So glad that resonated with you. Appreciate the kind words and support!

@chanwoo_kim Whatting sounds like an amazing solution for those of us who’ve struggled to find a diary app that truly adapts to our personal needs. I love the idea of customizable widgets and layouts that reflect how we actually live our lives. I’m definitely going to check it out.

Wishing you the best on your first Product Hunt launch, and I can’t wait to see how Whatting evolves :)

Love the design, finally a diary that adapts to real life! Congrats on the launch @chaebeen_kwon@ahjung@ce1ina@chanwoo_kim 🚀 When are you planning to launch for other devices?
Thanks so much! 🙌 Right now it’s iPad-only to take full advantage of the layout freedom — but yes, we’re working on iPhone and Mac support later this year. Stay tuned!
Really appreciate the honest feedback — thank you! 🙏 The name Whatting comes from “What thing?” — our way of asking, “What do you want to make today?” It’s meant to be playful and open-ended, just like the app.
As for the icon — great observation! It’s actually designed to resemble an eye 👁️ — we wanted something that feels friendly, approachable, and hints at daily reflection and observation. That said, we’re always listening and open to refining things as we grow. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts — it truly helps!
Really appreciate it! 🙌 Even though you’re not an Apple user, thanks so much for the support. The Android version is coming this May — so stay tuned, we’re excited to share it with you! 😄

minimalist phone: creating folders
iPad only?
Because from all devices (iPhones, Macs – iPads are used the least).
Don't you plan to expand to smartphones primarily? (Because the maximum possible market limit may be lower for iPads.)

Looks like a good solution!
Do name and icon have some deeper meaning?
Tbh, icon looks a bit silly and generic to me, wouldn't expect high-quality app when I see it in App Store...
