I gave Y-Productive a chance and I really enjoyed what I saw -- plus devs are quite responsive and it is developed in Tallin <3

However at this time it lacks many of the features that I love from Timing, I for sure will gonna give Y-Productive another spin in the future.

Pros:

Beautiful and easy to understand UI / Light on the system (could be lighter, though)

Cons:

Lacks many features other products have (read: Timing App)

I guess y-productive got discontinued, because there is no customer support. I emailed them a few questions, but never got the answers, I was so close to buy the lifetime plan, since I loved the app so much :(

Just find out about this app, and loving it! I precisely wanted an active time tracking app (like toggl or timeular) with some kind of passive tracking of the productivity of each task (like rescue time, but in a per task basis), and the web blocker is definitely handy! The ONE thing that I would love to see implemented is a time boxing feature: being able to set a schedule with an estimated time each task should take... So that you can set limits on how long you should take in doing something, which according to Parkinson's law helps boost your productivity. From there, maybe the user could decide to extend the time for a certain task if need be... But just setting that limit and being conscious you exceeded it would be IMO very useful!!

@grozyan it's a bit of an overhead, as for me. Would also need additional resource - which we don't have as for now. We fund the development ourselves.

@alex_zhebryakov well, you gain a lot of private data. Some of it is extremely sensitive. And you store this data in the cloud. In the year, where every week another big company with million-worth funding get hacked, and private data get exposed, I'd rather not use service that doesn't provide defaults of secure access.

@grozyan you're right. Sorry, I didn't get what you meant at first. Of course, we're already working on the option to store the data locally, without the need to store it on servers. It's the solution we can actually implement considering the resources.

@bricis thanks for sharing! It seems DeskTime is company-size oriented, while Y-Productive is designed for a personal use. How's the productivity feedback organized there? How does the app know what's productive or unproductive for you?

@alex_zhebryakov Indeed. We used it for our team, but I don't recall anything particularly cumbersome that would make it hard for personal use. As far as I remember productivity was measured by your active usage of productive apps previously setting up which apps are productive and which aren't (there was also something in-between labeled as "neutral"). I'm not really sure how websites were categorized or whether there was any automatic detection mechanism. Web app was quite good but Windows app and the whole process of switching projects and clicking "start/stop project" button made it feel more like a controlling tool than productivity tool. If I have to think about it - it's not productive. :)

Can I assign particular websites as productive or not to projects?

@ivan_kniazevych it's actually a tricky question. You can assign projects to tasks, and tasks to the chart. When chart represents particular websites and apps you used in your workflow. Is this something you had on your mind or may be it is more related to the different nature (productive or unproductive) a website can be depending of a work situation?

@brunolemos I think we'll write a blog post afterwards. We've got a lot of feedback, so we will work towards making the app even better next days, and only then will count the revenue :)
