Just completed my first conversation and I agree with @hnshah - it feels magical. However, I found the sign up a bit tedious for a simple chat app. Would love to just use my phone number and address book to discover friends. I see a more practical use case of this app for group conversations, especially with friends who you don't see often.
Tried this in beta pre-launch and was also pleasantly surprised by the added sense of connection to the person on the other side.
Would love to see an asynchronous feature allowing people to leave LiveText "voicemails."
Congrats on launching. It's very fast. At a glance/first use, I did feel the visuals and text were competing against one other for my attention. I'd be focused on the visuals, not the text, and then switch back to the text, then back to the visuals and these two elements seemed distinct from one other, rather than part of a cohesive message. I'll spend more time with it though. Interested to see if this catches.
Great that they launched it for Android + iPhone! Wanted to test, but was disappointed that "This item cannot be installed in your device's country". As with videos I find country-blocking backwards - fine in beta/testing, but when you do the full roll out/launch/hit PH + TC etc then what's the point. Slight blocker for nomads...
The app forces a real world connection to the person at the other end; something missing in plain text forms. I echo some of the thoughts about how nice it would be to have live text mail. Kudos!
