About

I'm Alperen, co-founder of iz, building with Tuna in Istanbul. iz helps you keep photos, notes, music and book memories at real places, then revisit them on a map. Keep your traces private or share them and discover stories nearby. I'm interested in thoughtful mobile products, personal knowledge tools and meaningful ways to connect. On Product Hunt, I share what we learn while building and explore products with clear, useful experiences. Try iz on iOS or Android: https://iz.city/en/ I'd love feedback on your first trace: what would make a map of your memories worth returning to?

A song can bring back a place. What would you pin to your map?

Some memories are easier to describe with a song than a caption. A track from a trip, a book connected to a cafe, or a small note from an ordinary walk can carry the feeling of a place.

I'm Alperen, co-founder of iz, building with Tuna in Istanbul. In iz, you can leave a photo postcard, note, song or book memory where you are, then revisit those traces on a map. Keep them private or share them; collections can bring moments from the same walk or trip together.

Here's a small way to try it: on your next walk, save one moment at a place that matters to you. It doesn't need to be a landmark. Then come back to that trace later and see whether the place helps the memory feel different from a camera-roll photo.

What would you save first: a photo, a song, a note or a book memory? I'd love feedback on what would make you return to it.

a walk with my son became the idea for memory collections in iz

a walk with my son made me want more than a folder of photos. i wanted to keep the places and moments together, as one story.
i'm Alperen, co-founder of iz, building it with Tuna in Istanbul. iz lets you leave a photo postcard, a note, music or a book memory at the place where you are. you can keep traces private or share them.
we've added collections so traces from a walk, a trip or an ordinary day can sit together on a map. you can give a collection a cover and a description, then share it as an image or a link.
a question for people who take photos on their walks: would you revisit a map of your memories, or would a simple photo album still be more useful? what would make you save your first collection?
if you'd like to try it, iz is on iOS and Android, free to download with optional in-app purchases: https://iz.city/en/
i'd especially appreciate feedback on the first-memory experience. no need for a big trip an ordinary day counts too.

How do you market a product when you hate marketing?

I am not really big on promoting myself or what i do, but in this day and age you can have the best app/idea on earth and if no one will get to it then it's nothing. So what do you do? How do you promote? on a budget.
