Hey PH! I'm pretty pumped about this one. ✌🏽 Jonathan here, founder & CEO of Appcues. Some of the community's earliest Hunters may know that Appcues first launched on PH as a tool for user onboarding. We've built a highly focused and effective product that supercharges millions of first-time user experiences every month. But we all know that great products don't just end the experience there. That's why we're taking things beyond the initial experience and into the entire user lifecycle. We retooled our product to center around a couple of new, fundamental building blocks: User Segmentation and Goal Tracking. With these two pillar pieces, you're now able to run Appcues experiments and see *exactly* how they affect your most important business metrics, and answer questions like: 🤔 How does onboarding affect D7 retention? 😍 Are power users still using our newest features after learning about them? 🤑 What best drives adoption of our "sticky" features? The proof is in the pudding. A few of our earliest customers have already been using the new platform with massive results, and they don't need a data science team to prove it. I could definitely go on, but if you're like me, you'll just want to jump in and see it first-hand :) Thanks for checking us out! If I can answer any questions, holler! 👋🏽

How is it different from Intercom? What is it that I can do with Appclues that's not possible with Intercom!
Jackson Noel
Great question, @gashokvr! Intercom is an awesome product and can certainly be used to solve for product adoption, just like Appcues. On a high level, the difference we see is that Intercom is a communication layer while Appcues is a product layer. Intercom is built to make business more personal. It's a great tool for having conversations with your users, whether those occur over email or chat on your website/inside your app. Appcues is an extension of your product. The experiences that you build with Appcues (we call them flows) are meant to look and feel like a native product experience rather than chat that sits on top of your product. Specifically, you can choose from a handful of UI patterns not offered by Intercom including those that annotate certain elements in your product (tooltips and hotspots). These are particularly useful for explaining key parts of your UI and driving users to take important action. There are a lot of reasons why the two products feel similar right now. You can do a lot of the same personalization and targeting with Appcues as you can with Intercom. But I believe our two companies are on very different missions and these differences will become much clearer with some of the upcoming capabilities and patterns that we have planned.

I'm part of the Growth team @ Yotpo.com

We use Appcues as part of our onboarding/feature adoption process.

We're extremely happy with the results - feature adoption increased by 40% on average (few of them outperformed with an increase of more than 100%).

Our users get more and more value from our product and keep getting back which improved our retention rate as well.

ROI wise - One of the best decisions we took.

Highly recommended.

Pros:

Great interface

Easy to use

Integrates with Segement/Mixpanel/Tag manager and more

Attentive support

Product getting updated all the time

Cons:

Nothing so far

Awesome! Really love Appcues! As a growth guy, Appcues is for me one of the most helpful product to increase conversion rate (in my case in onboarding process). The funnel in SaaS (signup to paid) is really long, you need to improve each step and Appcues can help you with that! Congrats team, really good job! 🙌

@tombenattar thank you Tom! I couldn't have said it better 🙏🏽

Tristan here, product designer at Appcues. I'm pumped for this release, I think of it kind of like making Appcues a more complete meal. We had the substance—a tool to help you build in-product adoption experiences without coding—and now we're adding the whole grain bread around it: Segmentation and Goals, which help you personalize the right experiences for the right users, and then make sure they're really working. It's like an awesome Appcues sandwich. As a designer, I'm also excited about our new brand and new UI design in the product itself, so check that out too! 🍞🍃🍅🥓🍞 + 🎨 = 😋

I'm sorry for every minute that our product was without Appcues, I can't imagine how many users we lost until we implemented all of our onboarding flows.

Pros:

Must have tool! Easy to use, Segment integration, amazing support, immediate value.

Cons:

Nothing serious

Well done guys. I really love your product, the value / ROI we saw so far is amazing. What's on your roadmap? any interesting future releases?
Jonathan Kim
@yoav_aziz thanks Yoav! We added a couple of new features in the past couple weeks that I didn't mention, perhaps most notably a diagnostics tool (https://my.appcues.com/diagnostics). It lets you see what adoption flows your users will see throughout their lifecycle. The main use case is testing and debugging, but I think there's plenty to do in terms of visualizing the end user's experience with your product. We have a ton of really cool stuff in the pipeline (templates, improved A/B testing, checklists), all of which are driven directly by customer feedback. I'll reach out to schedule you for user testing to get yours!

Well done guys! Love this new angle, can't wait to give it a try!
