Honestly, this is our first big step in launching something that firebase can't do at all, albeit experimental. AFAIK, Firebase still has no support for GraphQL. We're not just gonna create Firebase 1-1 again, we want to make Appwrite a uniquely competitive tool in its own right :) (edited, grammar)
