Big fan of what @a13n & @sarahhun are building. Working on Polymail, we really leveraged collaboration with our customers to build outer product and am excited to see tools being built to scale such collaboration. ♥️
@varadhjain Thanks for the support Varadh. We strongly believe that the relationships with your early customers are the foundation of your startup.
Hope to see you at Mazarine again soon 🙂
@sarahhum@a13n Wow, super impressed with the design and logo work. Incredibly clean, usable, and doesn't get in the way.
What I really like is the use of the labels and notifications as a simple way to communicate back to your users without having to write anything. Really highlights how actions speak louder than words in this instance.
@ben_chow Hey Ben, thanks for the compliments! Design is a big focus for us as we want our customer's users to have a great experience giving feedback.
Status changes are a super lightweight way to keep users in the loop with the features they care about. I'm biased, but whenever I get a status change email, it makes me feel heard – something I never felt with email feedback. Glad you enjoy it!
I highly recommend checking out Canny's blog. It really shows how effective and transparent the team is! They learn from their mistakes and maintain great culture.
@alexyoungkwon Two super solid products, thanks for mentioning us alongside them! We often worry that we're focusing too much on execution. I'm glad it sounds like our efforts are worth it.
The product looks good but I am disappointed by the sales team (Andre).
I have 3 questions:
- Why would we pay 3x more for Canny compared to UPVOTY ? The features look similar.
- Why don't you offer a fair discount for early-stage companies? You benefit from 70% discount from Intercom - Hubspot offers 90% discount for early-stage companies - and you offer 50% on Growth plan if we pay 1 year upfront ... sounds like a joke to me.
- Why is the pricing based on features and # tracked users? If I decide to go with 50 users but I need to ETAs, I need to pay for 1,000 tracked users ?
Hey @yassine_belmamoun, sorry to hear you had a bad experience here.
Canny's early-stage startup plan is 50% off, which means Canny starts at $25/mo. So for early-stage startups, we're competitively priced. Sure you have to pay a bit more, but Canny's product is MUCH better than Upvoty's.
Andre thought you were looking at the Growth plan because you specifically mentioned that you required functionality in the Growth plan (eg Post ETAs). Since that didn't work for you, he tried to help you find an even greater discount by paying annually.
HubSpot and Intercom are both well-funded large companies (1000+ employees) who can afford to lose money on their startup discount in order to fuel their growth. Canny is a 5 person bootstrapped startup. We simply don't have the resources to offer a greater discount, otherwise we absolutely would.
To be honest, you don't really need Post ETAs. Canny works great without it, and you'll still get 99% of the value without it. If you remove this requirement, you'll qualify for our Starter plan and $25/mo pricing.
Best of luck either way.
