Cocoon is a dedicated space for the most important people in your life. You use it with a single group who you want to feel closer with — it's like your home, on your phone.
I know a lot people are going to hate on people relying on technology instead of making actual human connections, but I'm a fan of this because everyone is already sending these updates anyways, so might as well automate it. Good stuff - I'll be a user.

Personally I like the idea, just as when Path launched the similar idea in 2010 with the one of the best mobile UX I had seen at the time, but the challenges is if your family and close friends are comfortable with the current solution then the cost to switch is too high. This is kinda a dilemma for all the close community social media services. I loved Path, but it failed. I wish all the best to you guys and hope you can establish a beachhead market somewhere and go from there.

It's gorgeous,

This would be good when a family member is traveling and wants to keep everyone up to date on.

How lovely. I like the idea of a space meant for a close-knit family or friend group. Really cool features too.

This is most exciting product I’ve come across this year. And there’s a real need (or at least very strong desire) for it. I have a group chat with my family and another one with my friends but they’re now mostly a way to broadcast memes instead of a means to connect and learn about each other’s days. Cocoon seems to offer the perfect blend of familiarity and uniqueness to solve the issue in the best way.

@monga - Could you speak of how encryption (resting, p2p.. if any) and - truthfully - who can or has access to the information the user adds in the app please?
Report
@monga never mind, cheers. I’ve just ready your privacy policy and tos.
Great looking app. Personally, I reckon the words “private space” are misleading.
The contents added by the user are not private at all according to the Privacy Policy and there’s a whole discussion there in relation to what the campaign video portrays in itself.
I would not be able to trust the content/privacy of my family and close friends to such an operational model and, as it is, I don’t believe you guys can afford shifting it towards privacy (investment and business plan offered for it?)
That would be a pass for me.
