Facebook's video discovery needed an update in some way. Not sure if this is it or not -- but it has to be better than the current iteration.

I have recently deleted Facebook from my phone as it is just full of crap half the time. This alone I think will still keep people from switching from Youtube. Youtube works well because it is just video content and you can watch and subscribe to what you want. Facebook including a similar service into their social network means the first page you are most likely to hit is your feed before hitting the tv button. Personally, this alone is enough to not interest me.
We knew this was coming, and apropos that it's a day after Disney's announcement. It's really funny that at first the internet enabled video unbundling (which was good), but as these singular "channels" grow the bundle will eventually make sense again.

It's not really live yet, but looks cool. I'll be launching a show on startups using it in the near future hopefully!

Streaming wars begin :) The social angle does give it an edge imo

The problem with spraying services is that with so many services we will have more expenses. It would be cool if they really did price competitively rather than launching a new product that will only increase the user's expenditure. Let's follow the next chapters. ;-)

Honestly online streaming is becoming more like cable TV. Streaming platforms should REALLY take note from the music industry - I don't have to pay for Spotify AND Apple Music to enjoy content. I just pick my favourite one. This is just adding one more app I have to use to watch things - regardless if it's free. Same as Disney pulling from Netflix - I want to enjoy content from one place people!

I've said this before, but I wonder when the tipping point of subscriptions to user ratio. I know that I personally cant afford to have 13 active subscriptions. At some point these companies will need to realize that we arent as rich as them and that we cant keep adding subscriptions.
