Do you draft release notes as you code or write them after launching?

I used to write changelogs the day after shipping but i’d always forget half the details and end up with vague updates.
Now i write a quick line every time a feature gets finished. It keeps everything clear and actually helps me notice if a feature is too confusing before going live.
When do you guys usually prep your update notes and do your users even bother reading them?

I'd keep a small list while building and turn it into release notes before launch. that seems much easier.
I like writing a fast note while i'm building. it easier than trying to remember everything later.
i usually forget the small details if i want until after launch. writing them down early saves time.
writing the note also helps me see if the feature is easy to explain. If its hard to explain then maybe it needs some work.
