When is the right time to launch on Product Hunt?
Because building products has become much more accessible thanks to AI, the bar has had to rise a bit, or at least the expectations have become stricter.
I built my own tool – SafeLimit, but personally, I wouldn’t launch it on Product Hunt yet because it’s still very basic and doesn’t even have a website. 😀
Personally, I wouldn’t use Product Hunt only to validate an idea or a problem anymore.
I would feel ready to launch once I reached these points:
– the product works with its core features (it doesn't break)
– it has been properly tested by developers, UX/UI testers, and a few potential users (with bugs fixed)
– it has its own landing page explaining the product
– it already has a version with payments integrated
– it follows Product Hunt’s launch and community guidelines (novelty, uniqueness, etc.)
– it has a small but engaged user base that can support the launch with comments or reviews (social proof)
When would you personally feel ready to launch on Product Hunt?
What would be your minimum requirements?

This is something that actually worries me i've been developing my tool for about 6 months and I'm getting very close to the the launch but I've made some mistakes with the UX UI and delaying it what I'm worried about is if I don't launch strong then no one's gonna wanna give me feedback what do you guys suggest like to me I'm trying to work on the website and the UI and also the functionality I really wanna sort of know 'cause this is my first product hunt launch. I'm worried that if you don't if you don't launch strong then any traction will die.

@busmark_w_nika Yes thats right, im looking to run paid ads and influencers, seo and affiliate. How do you acquire traffic and customers?
My bar is simpler: I don't launch until a stranger can go from link to value without me in the loop. If every new signup needs me to hand-hold or restart something, a launch just converts attention into churn. I'm deliberately not launching mine yet for exactly that reason — small audience, and one launch day spent badly is worse than waiting until 20 people use it unprompted.

@sagar_gupta36 What about my approach? I want to collect more users for free and, from a large number of free users, invite some to the paid tier. Is it bad or good?
This matches what I'm seeing. I'm two or three weeks out from launching and the only thing I actually trust is the handful of people I've had real conversations with

Good list though many products could benefit ahead of waiting for pricing and payments integration. The only caution for non-engineers launching products is to spend cycles hardening security before the launch and publication as well.

@busmark_w_nika That's a good point. I've been doing some of that on LinkedIn already, though mostly investor-focused so far — might be worth extending the same habit toward the launch audience specifically. Thanks for the tip!

I was curious about the payments point. For a product that starts free, would you feel comfortable launching at this stage, or would you still want to test the paid offering first? Would love your perspective.

@sionabednego Hey Sion, thanks for the question. My preferences have changed. I will launch a free version as well to gather as many testers as possible. But the latest research conducted by @4kulia showed that freemium products are the most popular.
I have no idea, launching on Sunday (because I'm frankly nervous. 😀 ) Still need a solid screen record video to attach. I work on my app all on my eves and weekends so time has been limited and I don't have a community yet, but I figure what better time than now? Here to learn and grow!

While building Uxia, I’ve learned that a few real users exposing the confusing bits matter more than another round of polish. The learning loop is the real launch bar.

I genuinely don't know about visibility on PH just because I launched 2 different products on different trends but none of this gain proper visibility over PH.
