Is making money the only measure of an app’s success?

A successful product is often seen as one that is well-commercialized, with users willing to pay for it. But is that always the case?

Today, I came across many products that are incredibly fun and creative. It made me wonder: are there products that don t fit the conventional definition of success? Maybe some exist just to bring joy, even if users simply visit, smile, and leave.

Some might argue that if something brings value, people will naturally be willing to pay. But is that always true?

Suggest a tool that will help me stay focused on my daily tasks

What breaks when your AI agent needs a human answer?

I have been seeing the same pattern across coding agents and desktop agents: the agent can do more of the work now, but the flow still depends on small human approvals at the worst possible moments.

A shell command needs permission. A file change needs review. A calendar action feels too risky to run automatically. A tool call looks safe in one repo but dangerous in another. The agent pauses, the user is away, and the whole run loses momentum.

The Rise of the Invisible App: Magic or Mess?

With this whole AI trend, many tools are trying to be invisible: not apps you open, but helpers that quietly run in the background. They show up just enough interface: a chat box, a nudge, or an API call to deliver value, but otherwise stay out of sight.

With today s agent hype, this idea feels like it s accelerating. Agents promise to handle tasks across your apps without you lifting a finger.

We axed a popular request that no one missed.

In last quarter, our biggest ask was to have an export for the dashboard. And we delivered it, shipped it, made an announcement about it. And the usage? Nothing, pretty much.

What it turns out that people needed was to be sure that the data is good, and not another button. Export was just the proxy for this.

The reason why my changelog gets more attention than my blog is beyond me.

Changelog entries get us maybe two sentences. Blog entries get days to write, and receive far fewer page views. My sense is that people believe "this is what happened" more than "this is why it matters," but who knows for sure.

Does your changelog get the same page views as your blog or is this common?

What's the worst onboarding you've sat through recently?

Not naming names for my own product here, someone else's tool burned me last week. 14 questions before I even got to see a real screen. Company size, use case, "how did you hear about us", team size again but phrased differently. By question 9, I was just clicking random answers to get to the app.

Never even got there properly. Closed the tab, opened it again two days later out of guilt, got hit with a slightly different set of questions because apparently my first run didn't save. That was it for me.

The reason my cold email had a 40% response rate is that I sent only nine such emails.

In the past, I sent out fifty emails and received a reply from only two individuals. However, last month I sent nine emails, all of which referred to an aspect in relation to their product or a recent blog that they had posted, and received four actual replies. The problem wasn't about volume; it was relevance.

For those conducting outreach manually, what determines the point at which your list is worth the effort of additional research per email versus just sending out more?

Is there a single tool that covers AI visibility + SEO + reputation?

Looking for something that can track, in one dashboard:

  • Brand mentions and citations across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overview

  • Keyword rankings and search volume, verified against live Google data

  • Competitor tracking with an actual threat score, not just "similar companies"

  • On-page/technical SEO audits with specific fixes, not vague advice

  • Backlink monitoring, including newly lost links

  • Review and sentiment tracking across platforms

  • A hallucination check, for when an AI says something wrong about the brand

Right now I'm running separate tools for SEO, social listening, and manually checking what ChatGPT says about us. It's slow and nothing talks to anything else.

Has anyone found a platform that does this end to end? Open to both known names and newer tools.

My cofounder and I never seem to agree about what constitutes being "done"

The redesign shipped last week. He thought we were done when the UI was in line with Figma. I thought we were done when the tickets regarding that flow stopped coming in. After arguing for two days straight, it occurred to us that we had never actually sat down and defined it, four years into working together.

How would you define done at your company? And how many places did you put that definition down on paper?

Anyone else hitting a wall with all these AI note takers?

I scroll Product Hunt almost every morning and lately it feels like every single launch is another AI meeting recorder or second brain app. I have clicked on so many of these landing pages that they all blend together. Same pitch every time: record your calls, get automatic summaries, clean up your life.

Thing is, I do not actually know a single person in real life who uses one of these daily. I set up a few free accounts just to see what the big deal was, but I ended up with a bunch of long transcripts I never went back to look at. Maybe I am just missing something or my workflow does not really fit the format.
