Bloomberg reported today that Meta (read: Facebook) is "considering potential budget cuts as high as 30% for the metaverse group next year." That's the same group behind the Quest VR headsets and the online VR game Horizon Worlds. During its annual budgeting sessions, CEO Mark Zuckerberg usually asks execs to identify 10% in cuts, but "the metaverse group was asked to cut deeper this year given that Meta has not seen the level of industry-wide competition over the technology that it once expected."
Now, we're old enough to remember when Zuckerberg went all in on the metaverse in 2021. He, uh, even changed the company's name.
@mikekerzhner just told me about the trick where you put Document.designMode = 'on' in console, then you can edit text on a page like a doc. It would be cool to do more types of edits for design feedback, like actually moving elements around. Does anyone know of a Chrome extension that lets you do this with websites?
If you were in charge of Product Hunt what would you change? What kind of revenue model would you implement? What would you remove revise or improve?
I will start:
Honestly I would like the Guidelines section to be more in-depth and informative because some parts are very limited in terms of detail.
And I would definitely do whatever it takes to fix the notification system. :D Even when you get different upvotes it bugs out and keeps showing a notification from just one person. Even after marking it as read it still does not work properly.
We're working on a weather app that uses AI for voice-powered updates (like read out the weather forecast and wake you up: 'Rain in 30 mins grab your umbrella!').
But it got me thinking: what other cool stuff could AI do?
Ultra-local predictions? ("Your backyard BBQ at 3PM will be sunny, but your neighbor s patio will be windy")
First time poster here, a marketing/demand gen person coming from a mobile app launching this summer. I am curious, what does your go-to-market tech stack look like? I am responsible for identifying and building out the systems needed to shape and guide users from awareness through download, retention and (hopefully) advocacy, as well as analyze and segment based on behavior.
I'm a solo founder currently building my first SaaS product, and I'm planning to launch a few more niche products in the future. I'm based in Australia and operating under my ABN (sole trader), but I m trying to figure out the best way to structure things for the long run.
I m about to prepare for my first launch here, and I d love to hear from you all. What s the most valuable lesson you ve learned from your previous launches?
Keep it short let's choose the most impactful lessons. 10 words max ;) Looking forward to your insights!
Lately, I ve been thinking about how much of today s marketing is shaped by algorithms, automation, and machine-generated insights and whether something essential is getting lost in the process.
It s hard not to notice:
AI can generate full campaigns before a human finishes the brief,
Strategy often starts with data models, not human moments,
