If you read your news on Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, or any news site, we’ll let you know who else is covering the story and how reporting differs between sources from across the political spectrum.

Are there any crowdsourcing applications to this extension?
@michael_falzone Members of the Ground community can contribute to the app by suggesting news sources to add to the platform or by requesting new features. You can do both by emailing us at feedback@ground.news.

This is great - Would be good on the "Full Coverage Page" if it passed through and highlighted the current news provider in the left/right icon stack.
@philip_j_white Great suggestion! We will implement that feature in the next update.

So cool - had this recommended to me by a friend. I love the pop up bar on the top. I wish we had this for the last election! Any plans for the future?
@turner_tobin Thanks to your friend for sending you our way! We plan to add more features to the browser extension and expand its capabilities beyond Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and news sites. We're also making some major changes to our mobile app as well - stay tuned!

I get my news from some pretty niche sources. Will the browser extension be able to pick up and generate coverage data of stories from non-mainstream publications?
@audreyp64 Hi Audrey - Ground News curates news stories from over 50,000 sources. These news outlets span across the globe and political spectrum, so will be able to generate coverage data for stories from your niche sources.
@amber_jolly We hope the browser extension can educate people about the underlying bias that is present in the news. When most users download the extension, they will likely see that the coverage on most news on their feed aligns with their political beliefs. This means that if you lean left, the tool will likely show you that a significant amount of news that you read is primarily reported on by left-leaning sources. The extension enables users to easily fix this, as an aggregation of how other sources are reporting on the event is only one click away for every story.
The end goal of the extension is to both inspire and enable people to adopt a balanced news diet.
Pretty neat product. Besides being a good bias checker I assume this could also help one determine whether or not something is being widely reported on. Will help keep information on the internet and avoid unnecessary censorship. Kudos!
@victorcc Exactly 🙌 The extension tells you how many sources are reporting the story, indicating the interest in the story. As an example, today's top story "Supreme Court to review Trump border wall funding, asylum policies" was covered by 124 sources!

The people who really need to use this are likely not tech-savvy enough to know what an extension is. It's really awesome for the rest of us though! :)
@stefanie_mclaren Haha yes! Thankfully it only takes 5 seconds to install and it doesn't require any user input to function, as it overlays the bias data on your news feed. Hopefully, with the help of the product hunt community, we can get it to more people!

Eager to try, but the safari extension download buttons on your website don't seem to work
@javaamonde Unfortunately, the safari extension hasn't been approved by Apple yet. We are hoping it will be available in the next few days 🤞

Looks interesting. Considering that this is a browser extension, what does your main platform offer and where are you planning to take this in the future?
@timduke1 Hey Tim. Our main platform (mobile and web apps) enables users to see the underlying coverage bias in every news story. We gather coverage from every news outlet that's reporting on a story so readers can quickly get a comprehensive view of what’s being said, who is saying it, and how reporting differs amongst news sources from across the political spectrum. By aggregating all of the reporting on one event, readers can see if the story is receiving balanced coverage, or if it's only being reported by news sources on the left and right. In the future, we plan to deepen our coverage analysis features and bring our services to more platforms and devices.
