HelloCV sends automated unsolicited marketing emails to email addresses scraped from the internet.

by

Hi.

I've recently received an email from HelloCV, a site which I've never interacted with, and never intend to interact with. My email address is quite new, is my work email and has likely been scraped from the website it's associated with.

Better yet, this website sends the emails from "helloprofessor.cv", likely to prevent their own domain being impacted by spam ratings.

Avoid websites that do these practices.

I want to address this directly.

Yes, we do use an AI SDR that reached out to academics using email addresses publicly listed on their own profiles. To be clear, we did not purchase any email lists. We have never done this.

We also want to acknowledge that the response from the academic community has largely been positive, with many appreciating the offer of .cv domains.

That said, we understand that unsolicited outreach - regardless of intent or reception - can feel intrusive, and we take that concern seriously. We apologize to anyone who felt their inbox was treated without respect. We're reviewing our outreach approach to ensure it better reflects our values going forward

@opeawo Appreciate the honesty, however, my email address was spammed by hello.cv multiple times, without ever interacting with your website.

Marketing tactics like this are usually performed by phishing websites, not actual companies. If you are certain what you are doing is proper marketing, consider sending these emails from your primary email domain.
