I love that Paintbrush helps founders avoid the worst new venture trap: a cluttered cap table. I've seen so many founders invite too many, or the wrong kind, of people onto their cap table in order to get their idea off the ground. Invariably, these cap tables have to be cleaned up in order to make future growth possible. Most founders don't know this at the outset, but getting someone off a cap table is major surgery for a business. It usually distracts the management team at critical moments and can even be fatal to the company. Paintbrush seems to offer a better way. Get enough cash to prove out a concept without having to give away a big chunk of your cap table to an aggressive "angel" investor. Avoid disastrous code-for-equity arrangements. I hope this becomes an important part of the venture finance ecosystem.

@gregory_schulz Yes! Not only this, but so many get into predatory relationships with bad angel investors who take way too large of a percent of the company early on, because that's the only option available to them, and then they shoot themselves in the foot when they try to raise equity through more traditional funds later on, and they end up giving away all their ownership in the company.
