What’s the real goal of a Product Hunt launch?

Founders launch on with one goal: Rank as high as possible, but the first question should be: what is your launch objective?

Maybe your goal is to:
Test an idea and see if there’s real interest

  • Get more traffic

  • Get new users

  • Increase conversions

  • Get feedback

  • Make people try your free plan

  • Get your first paying customers

  • Build awareness around your product

  • Get backlinks ...

Depending on your goal, the way you prepare your launch and how you measure if it was successful can be completely different.

For those who launched on Product Hunt: what was your main goal, and did you achieve it?

I think that in the various phases of the product, the goal is slightly different.

Of course, we all want to earn money, but the process takes time.

First, you want to have testers (improvement + validation).

Secondly, you need some social proof and awareness.

Yeah exactly! I think it really depends on where you are with the product. Btw how is SafeLimit going? When are you planning to launch on PH?

I already finished the landing page and want to finish onboarding carousel, otherwise a free version is fully prepared :)

Can't wait to see it live here !!

I think all the points you mentioned already exist on the wish list =)

And of course, being featured gives your product a certain level of authority and credibility.
Personally, it was an unexpected bonus for me as well - the threads I have every day where I collect so many ideas and new perspectives from the community.
