šŸ—£ļø Find the right product, just ask

by•

We just shipped something new on Product Hunt.

Ask Product Hunt AI is a way to explore launches, products, and discussions without digging through pages or trying the perfect search query. You can just ask a question and it pulls from everything happening on the platform — products, comments, makers, all of it.

Looking for tools in a specific space? Want to see what people are saying about a launch? Trying to find something you saw last week but forgot the name of? Just ask.

It’s early, and we’re still figuring out what this becomes, so we’d love your feedback.

Try it out, break it, tell us what’s missing.

Nice ship. One thing I keep wondering about with these, if Ask PH answers well enough, does it start to pull traffic away from the actual launch pages?

Or are you seeing it work more as a feeder that surfaces products people wouldn't have found otherwise? Feels like a real tension to design around.

Search on PH has always been a bit limiting when you’re exploring a problem, not a specific tool, so this layer makes a lot of sense.

How you will balance recency (hype / launches) vs long-term signal (retention, real usage, reviews). That’s probably where most of the value will be.

Excited to see where this goes.

@aaronoleary I hope this pulls in more consumers to the site so that we aren't just pitching to other product creators all the time!

Building off @amraniyasser , if adding all these filters, maybe it would be cool to have a toggle for chat mode and filter mode. Similar to how in the LLMs when making artefacts you can switch between code view and visual view. Unclear on how that would work technically, but I Am sure Claude can help XD

Great move. Product Hunt has so much valuable context hidden inside launches, comments, and maker discussions, so being able to ask directly feels much more natural than searching manually.

Would love to see filters like ā€œlaunched this week,ā€ ā€œmost discussed,ā€ or ā€œbest for solo foundersā€ inside the AI results. This could become a really strong discovery layer for the whole PH community šŸš€

I constantly forget the names of projects I saw a couple of weeks ago, and scrolling through the feed endlessly is no fun. I wonder how deep the AI digs into the archives? Does it only see recent launches, or can it pull something from 2020, for example?

the comments-as-signal layer is the most interesting bit. ph threads are full of half-buried context that never surfaces in regular search.

wondering if you can ask things like 'what are people complaining about in [category]' and actually get useful answers, or if it's mostly product-level retrieval for now

This feels especially useful for the ā€˜I remember the problem, not the product name’ use case.

I’d be curious whether the team sees this becoming the default discovery surface over time, or more of a companion to search and collections.

Finding the right tool can definitely be like looking for a needle in a haystack sometimes. Making it conversational is a huge step for UX! I love the idea of just asking a question instead of fighting with search queries. Can't wait to see how this evolves as more people start 'breaking' it!

It sucks, I tried it out. It doesn’t seem to be aware of all launches on Product Hunt. Please improve it. It can’t even find this url. Mxm

This is a smart direction because people usually remember the problem or the context, not the exact product name.

The next unlock would be helping users refine vague intent step by step instead of forcing one perfect query upfront.

Curious which kinds of questions are already producing surprisingly good answers.
