Cool new feature, couple of questions: - Is this available for products that have already launched? - How does this integrate with "Ship" - What does the new Embed feature do? - How does the "follow for updates" feature work?
Daniel Ferro
@maxwellcdavis great questions. Please see below: 1. Yes. All launches from a specific product will now live on that product’s Hub page. For example, if you check Product Hunt’s Hub page, you will see that all of our past launches are listed on that page. That is already the case for all products on our platform :) 2. Product Hubs and Launches are independent of “Ship” (no direct relation) 3. Embeds help you drive traffic from external sources to your product launch page. You can easily copy the embed codes and use them on your website, social media, etc. You will see examples of how the Embeds look and different types of embeds from the embeds page. 4. When you follow a product, you will automatically receive notifications of future launches and updates from that product. Right now, you can only receive in-app notifications, but we’re working to provide users with more options and control over notification settings. Please let me know if that’s clear. I hope it helps :)

It will take sometime to adjust with the new flow but looks nice
Daniel Ferro
@monti_gajjar glad you liked it! 😀 And yes, that was quite a big change, but we believe this will create a world of opportunities for makers to interact even more with their community, and vice-versa (not only on launch days but throughout the entire product lifecycle)

Did you remove the "related products" from the launch page? It was a great place to discover related products. Sometime you would find old and dead projects but with very good alternatives on the related section.
Daniel Ferro
Hi @davi_nunes 'related products' are now part of Product Hubs (sidebar) - We'll definitely take your feedback into account as we continue iterating on these pages :)

@ahiggz @product_at_producthunt After a day of playing around on the new layout and reading the rationales, I understand the new approach now. Couple suggestions and questions: 1) With content now split into two types of screens -- hub pages and launch screens -- users need an easy way to navigate between the two. (And it needs to be *prominent*, not disguised as a link with an unknown destination.) For example, a link or button to "Product Hub" at the top of a product's launch screens. 2) The hub page template displays a link to "(X) launches", but when that link is clicked, the number of launches displayed in the pop-up does not = (X). Is this a bug? If not, how does one view the actual list of (X) launches? 3) Clicking on a promoted product opens that product's website in a new window/tab. How does one visit the hub and/or launch screens of a promoted product?

@ahiggz @product_at_producthunt @dribeiro_8 Still struggling to figure out #2 and #3.

Kind of a G2.com-like direction? Huge SEO traffic opportunity with these pages. 👍

With the new update, it seems that ProductHunt is trying to position itself as a review site and marketplace like G2. I never prefer to follow company accounts to get updates on their new launches. Instead, I'll follow makers to see what new things they're building and launching. It was completely community-driven, but now it seems the focus is not on Makers. I hope the PH team will improve this in the future. Makers → Product ✅ Product → Makers ❌ @ahiggz @rrhoover

@rrhoover @asdivyansh Thanks for sharing your thoughts! For the record, we have no intention of removing the ability to follow makers, so if that’s your workflow, go for it! However, our research showed that many many people use Product Hunt to assess new tools and having reviews from all versions scattered across many disparate launch pages, sometimes from different makers, was not an ideal way to achieve that. Separately, relatively few people actually follow individual makers, so our hope is that more people will choose to follow their favorite products and over time, the Hubs pages will be a place for those makers to collaborate directly with their community on PH (not just at launch time but all throughout the lifecycle). Hope that helps!
