Who are the most active people on Product Hunt?
Many people were looking for an answer in one category, namely, Forums → Streaks.
This metric by itself only tells you that people log in to the app.
Isn't that enough?
For maintaining the streak ranking, yes.
But in my opinion, the most active people do more than just maintain a streak.
They appear in discussions, comment and launch products.
Activity > Login
If I were going to launch a product and wanted to reach backers, I would prioritise active people over those who "just" log in to the app.
For me, active people are familiar faces that I've seen here for a long time (at the moment), e.g.:
To name a few.
Of course, in your notifications, different faces are.
What metric do you use to measure activity on this platform?

Oh, thank you so much, Nika for the shoutout, I really appreciate it!
I truly think Product Hunt is such an open and inspiring community, where we don’t just stay updated on new products, but also learn from each other’s ways of thinking and skill sets.
If one day there’s a chance for the most active members to meet in person, I believe our community could become even stronger not just online, but through real connections too.
Thanks again, and I’m really glad to be part of this space

@bradshannon You are welcome :) Hopefully, the amount of active people will increase over time :)
Fully agree. Streaks show consistency, but activity shows contribution.
I usually judge “active” by who consistently adds context in discussions, not just who shows up daily. Familiar faces + thoughtful comments tend to matter way more than raw login metrics, especially around launches.
For me it's when I look around the forums or launches and I see a name that i'm sure i've seen before, once I realise It , I never forget the name and always focus more on what they have to say and interact with them.

I also use the badges to determine activity. There are some non-genric ones like The Buddy System badge that prove interaction to me.

@jake_strack Yes, tho I do not observe them so much in this platform. I mean, they are more hidden feature :)

Streaks are a vanity metric if there’s no real participation behind them. Comments, launches, and conversations are what actually move the platform.

@abod_rehman Engagement started mattering more than follower count btw :)
