Hey, it’s Sondre, CEO at SafetyWing 👋 One of the biggest pieces of feedback we’ve received over the years is “You guys are great… but your claims process kinda sucks”. We agree — complicated paperwork and 30 day turnarounds aren’t ideal. We listened to your feedback and have been working hard to launch our own carrier, create a more streamlined claims process and add comprehensive coverage options tailored to the needs of digital nomads and adventurers. Our goal with Nomad Insurance 2.0 is to make sure you have peace of mind and reliable support, no matter where your travels take you. We hope you love it as much as we do!

@srasch SafetyWing's commitment to improving its claims process is commendable. Streamlining the process and offering more comprehensive coverage options will be valuable for digital nomads and adventurers. Here are some questions for further exploration: - What specific new coverage options are included in Nomad Insurance 2.0? - Can you elaborate on the simplified claims process and how it differs from the previous version? - How does the pricing for Nomad Insurance 2.0 compare to previous plans? As a developer with experience in insurance technology, I'm interested in how SafetyWing's claims process works. Here are some potential areas for collaboration: - Improving the user experience and efficiency of the online claims portal. - Utilizing data analytics to identify trends and improve claims processing times. - Exploring integrations with travel planning or medical record management tools. I'd love to learn more about the technical aspects of Nomad Insurance 2.0 and explore opportunities to contribute to its development and improvement. Additionally, I'm interested in trying out the new version of Nomad Insurance to see how the streamlined claims process works.

I love the color vibe of your website. How do you ensure that data use privacy laws are not disturbed by this application?
Eman Zabi 🚀
@baruns Hey! Data is processed on a need-to-know basis. You can read more about it in our Data Privacy standards here: https://safetywing.com/privacy-p...

Love a product that listens to user feedback and improve the experience as a result! The website is also well designed - all of the coverages are explained in plain English rathe than legal jargons and the visuals is outstanding for an insurance product! I'm curious how do you bring tech into the insurance business? Do you use AI as part of your underwriting or risk assessment engine? Congrats on the launch again @srasch and team!
Eman Zabi 🚀
@tonyhanded As a 100% remote company, with 100% remote customers, our product relies 100% on good tech. AI works for us in the background, but our service is built on a combination of really good tech and real human interactions (from amazing humans). Our underwriting and risk assessment is fully digital and without delay!

@eman_zabi thanks for sharing!

This is fantastic, Sondre! 👏 Nomad Insurance 2.0 sounds like it will really address the pain points and make life so much easier for digital nomads and adventurers. The streamlined claims process and comprehensive coverage are game-changers. 🌍✈️ Quick question: Can you share a bit more about the new coverage options that are tailored specifically for digital nomads? Really curious to see how they compare to the old ones! 😊 @srasch
Gedion Verkerk
@tony_creator Hello Tony! This is Gedion from the Customer Care Team. We really appreciate your positive feedback. In terms of coverage options that are tailored specifically for digital nomads I can share that besides the Electronics Theft Add-on and the Adventure Sports Add-on, the plan now has a 0 USD deductible which means that you don't have to reach that amount in approved claims before you can start getting reimbursed. If you filed your first claim of 200 USD for example, and it's approved, you will be reimbursed for it straight away. Previously, you would not get this amount of 200 USD reimbursed as your first claim as it would go towards the 250 USD deductible and bring it down to 50 USD. Besides the medical coverage, other benefits that would come in handy for any digital nomad include travel benefits, such as lost checked luggage and unplanned overnight stay. Please feel free to have a look at our Nomad Insurance Description of Coverage for more information by using the following link: https://safetywing.com/nomad-ins... If you have any further questions, you can reach out to our Customer Care Team via the chat function on our website www.safetywing.com or you can also send an email to support@safetywing.com Cheers!

Hey, I'm curious, how does the adventure sports add-on work? Does it cover specific activities or is it more generalized? Congrats on the launch!
Eman Zabi 🚀
@kyrylosilin Hey! I'm part of the team working on the launch. This link includes the ones covered by the add-on: https://safetywing.com/nomad-ins..., and if you click the PDF in the top right corner on this page you can see the adventure sports in the base package! Hope that helps!

This, in my opinion, is one of the things that separates the great businesses. REALLY listening to what people want and pushing changes to make it happen. I don't understand how so many miss it. VERY well done, team!
Eman Zabi 🚀
@trent_kennelly Thanks for your support, Trent!

It's a funny moment when you see your insurance agent on Product Hunt. Congrats on the launch, BUT wish the claim&refund process didn't take more than 3 months like it did for me 🙂 Voted!
Eman Zabi 🚀
@shirshov Hopefully your next claim will be quicker! We've done a lot of work on our claims process, and our current turnaround time is under 5 days!

Congrats on your launch @srasch ! I'm curious about your pricing model. Is age the only factor that affects the cost of insurance, or do other factors like health or lifestyle come into play as well?
Gedion Verkerk
@lumi_nertan Hello Lumi, thanks for your comment! Currently, age is the only factor that affects the base premium. Pricing can also change depending on the add-ons you include in your plan. If you have any further questions, you can reach out to our Customer Care Team via the chat function on our website www.safetywing.com Take care!

Great service and now the faster claims settlement is a game changer, except I dont like the exclusions part.
Eman Zabi 🚀
@graham_m Thanks, Graham! What don't you like about exclusions?
Graham M
@Eman_Zabi Greetings. This is one I came across. Say a person has had previous policies, no claims no funny business. Then during the months proceeding renewing the policy, suffers a heart attack. Person goes to hospital and has treatment done. This is claimed for and payment received from Safety Wing. Thus follows, the new policy has a clause that cardiac issues will not be covered by the new policy. I am pretty sure people don't willingly plan on having heart attacks, they are sudden onset medical emergencies, that's why you have a policy in the first place, to help cover those costs. I like the idea of " Your Certain Friend In Uncertain Times." Thank you for your time. Graham.
Eman Zabi 🚀
@graham_m Hi Graham, that's a really valid concern. In those types of situations, Nomad Health, our comprehensive health insurance is a better fit, it's designed for longterm use. Nomad Insurance is travel medical insurance. You can learn more about Nomad Health here: https://safetywing.com/nomad-health
Richard Song
Congrats on the launch, @srasch! The adventure sports coverage is a fantastic addition. I'm curious about the electronics theft add-on—does it cover only specific items or all personal electronics? And how about coverage if you're traveling to multiple countries within a short period?
Gedion Verkerk
@renchu_song Hello Richard! This is Gedion, Customer Care Manager at SafetyWing. Thanks for your kind words! The Electronics Theft Add-on does cover specific items which are: Laptops, cameras, lenses, smartphones, e-readers, music players, tablets, earphones, earplugs, iPads, airpods and drones. Some important conditions are: -You took reasonable care for the safety of your electronics. -The theft is reported to the police within 24 hours. -You provide proof of the existence of the electronics before they were stolen (for example with a receipt of the purchase). -We will determine the reimbursement value of your electronics based on valuations at the time of loss and market data available at the time of claim decision. Also, for this add-on, we cover up to $3,000 per active insurance period, up to $1,000 per electronic and up to $6,000 in your lifetime (lifetime max). Also, this add-on is only available for subscription policies, which can be canceled anytime. Traveling to multiple countries within a short period is not a problem with Nomad Insurance. You can have the plan for a minimum of 5 days and even within these 5 days, you can be covered in multiple countries. Specifically, you can be covered anywhere outside your home country except Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia & Belarus, the USA (unless you have the US add-on) and select regions of Ukraine (Luhansk, Donetsk, Crimea). If you have any further questions, you can reach out to our Customer Care Team via the chat function on our website www.safetywing.com Cheers!
