Why We Decided to Build Cadence 💡
Hey everyone,
Over the past year, I’ve noticed how much time teams lose to meetings that don’t really need to be meetings. The daily standup is a great idea in theory — but in practice, it’s often a 15-minute routine that interrupts everyone’s focus, especially when you’re working across time zones. My old manager used to tell us about his dating life in ur standups, which was pretty painful...
That’s what inspired us to start working on Cadence — a lightweight async tool where teams share quick video updates instead of jumping on another call.
Our goal is to make staying aligned feel easier and more human, without forcing people to bend their day around a meeting link.
We’re not trying to replace connection or culture — just to give teams a calmer, more flexible way to stay in sync.
I’d love to hear from others here:
How does your team handle standups or async updates?
Do you feel like async tools help or hurt your sense of connection?
We’re still early, but I’m really interested in hearing what people think — what’s working for your teams, and what’s missing.

Hey Theo, that's a great question, actually! Honestly, I'm so happy I personally don't have to sit through these daily meetings, but I see my colleagues from other departments kinda suffer 😅 More over, oftentimes it takes way more than 15 minutes.
I think you're doing a great job with this async tool! I don't see how saving the time can hurt anyone - quite the opposite, I guess it can help you stay focused.
Curious to see what you've built, Theo! Good luck :)
@helga_impalpable Thank you Helga!!
I agree with all points... It's never just 15 mins!
& exactly, more focussed, less meeting fatigue etc! Only good if you enjoy work maybe!!

Hey,
This is pretty cool. Our team is completely remote. Currently, we record short Loom videos and post in Slack in a thread everyday. Wondering how Cadence would help or make it better?
Thanks
@krishna_gupta51Â Hi Krishna!
Thanks so much for your comment — really interesting to hear how your team uses Loom. What kind of things are you usually sharing in those videos? At my last company, we had an engineer who’d disappear for a few days and then resurface with a brilliant 5-minute Loom update — I’ve always thought Loom was great for that kind of async storytelling.
The idea behind Cadence is similar, just more structured and frictionless. Instead of posting Looms into Slack threads, someone can request an update (which notifies the team via Slack), everyone records their short video, and Cadence automatically groups them into a clean dashboard for everyone to see.
It’s especially useful when everyone’s deep in work, but you still want quick progress updates, feedback, or a general check-in. It keeps things human, but without interrupting focus.
We’ll have a free demo soon — I’d love to hear your team’s feedback if you give it a try. And if you’re open to connecting here on LinkedIn, it’d be great to chat more about features that would make it even better.
Thanks again,
Theo

@krishna_gupta51Â Thats brilliant, thank you! Is there anything you'd change about your current setup, anything that would make it easier?
