Sharetribe - No-code marketplace builder, fully extendable with code

@obehi you absolutely can! Right now we don't have our own storage for managing those files though, so your sellers would need to use a third party storage, or you could add an integration to a storage system with custom coding. This is something we're looking to improve on in the future. But with a bit of coding you can achieve an optimal experience for selling digital files already today!

The points you raise are all very good things to consider! Allow me to address a few: >Sharetribe are mainly placing the user to use their specific template without a lot of coding knowledge you won't be able to make your marketplace unique compared to other Sharetribe users starting up. Almost 100% true! I think you would agree that it is simply impossible to make a no-code solution that would allow you to make something even more unique than you could make when you code it yourself. I'd love to be proven wrong here. However, that doesn't mean you can still make it unique and customize the look and feel to be very different from other marketplaces and stand out in the market. We have seen an amazing amount of different designs. Of course, this is still very subjective, so I can understand if you see that differently. But, because we know that custom coding unlocks the next level of customization, this is exactly why we have now added the possibility of extending our no-code platform with code through our Developer Platform. This way, you can first get started without the need to code, and then extend and add things when you need to. I think this is the one part I don't agree with! Of course, WordPress is a surprisingly versatile platform with a very wide range of plugins. And I've seen marketplaces built with it. However, I think you'd be surprised at the upfront costs, to get it work and look like a marketplace. Secondly, there are no special marketplace management tools (think of user, listing & transactions management). Thirdly, you'd need to constantly monitor and worry about updating & performance. And finally, I think all of your previous points are even more true for a WP-based marketplace: harder to make it look unique, need coder already in the very beginning etc. Of course, regarding price: you are right. If you are willing to make the trade-offs on the things I mentioned (design, marketplace special requirements etc) and willing to pay more upfront, for the initial design, setting up, plugins etc, then you can probably lower the costs! O.k. well, I hope I didn't come across as too defensive! I really appreciate the feedback!

@borismanzhela That sounds like an intriguing idea! Integrating subscription logic & any third party is essentially not a problem, but...Sharetribe is meant for building two-sided platforms/online marketplaces, best known as the Airbnb/Uber/Etsy for X model. Does your business idea have that component? I couldn't make that out from your description.

With the new Sharetribe, it's possible for you to integrate any payment system of your choice using our developer platform. Some coding is required, but it can be done. If you're interested, I could ask the Expert who built this integration to provide a quote for getting this done for your site.
