@mark_delville Hi Mark! Thanks for your comment! Correct! Through our developer platform you can plug in any API. How much work that is depends mostly on your own coding skills and the other API, of course! Which one would you like to connect to?

@sjoerdhandgraaf Thank you for that confirmation! I would like to follow up with some API questions but I would be required to take those offline. Perhaps you could help with one question I have. What types of revenue models can I implement with a "rental style marketplace" For example, can I charge montly subscription fees for vendors, transaction fees for successful transactions, and premium listing fees for enhanced visibility? Any or all of these models doable?

@mark_delville Understood! I suggest contacting our support directly at help@sharetribe.com. Our customer success team speak to hundreds of founders every week, and they know exactly (in most cases) what is possible. Or at least, much better than me, the marketing guy! Regarding the monetization question: I've heard them all separately done, but not sure about the combination! I'll pull in some more info, and get back to you!

Regarding the question you asked: we have an out of the box implementation for taking a transaction fee. In addition, there's a no-code way to charge a monthly subscription fee, though some manual steps are required https://www.sharetribe.com/help/... For featured listings, some coding on top of our developer platform is required to make that work, but it's definitely doable too.

@audrius_janulis Hi Audrius! What (and when) was your side-hustle? Now I'm very curious! If it was several years ago, you were probably building it on the old Sharetribe, which was later renamed to Sharetribe Go. Indeed we had a problem with that marketplaces who grew bigger and bigger outgrew the feature set of Go! And you couldn't add additional features yourself. Then in 2018, we built Flex, our marketplace-backend-as-a-service, which is a fully API-based marketplace platform, on top of which you could built your own front end/UX. We have had several customer that are still with us since then, and who have grown to hundreds of thousands of users & transactions. Problem there was: not everyone can code or has the money to pay the people who could! We've now launched a completely new product today, which is a no-code marketplace builder, which essentially works on top of our existing Sharetribe Flex APIs, our marketplace-backend-as-a-service. So it's both easy and affordable to get started fast, and you can still scale and extend as much as you want in the future! Give it a try!

@sjoerdhandgraaf it was in 2021 and I did use Sharetribe Go. Curious to try, too bad not building a marketplace now, but if this flops I will give it a go lol :)

@otto_soderlund Yes! That's exactly it! That's why we're talking about being 90% done. Instead of building the same features that every marketplace needs, focus your time, money and energy on the special sauce, and integrate it with our "table stakes".
