I don't see any Apple products from my email scan. Is it really done scanning or will my shelf expand as it scans more? Is it just media products (books & dvds) or is it gadgets and tech as well?
thanks for the question @chuckkahn. Shelf’s email sync does an initial scan followed by daily scans. We scan for specific retailers, so we recognize all categories of products (not just media products). Our email receipt database is growing and it’s possible we don’t recognize some of your apple receipts yet. We’re working hard to improve this -- and as we do, more and more of your products will be added to your inventory.

The sign up and email sync was very quick and easy. Shelf does a good job of helping you hit the ground running and create shelves. I hesitated to let it scour my emails, but Shelf did a great job finding products I'd purchased. The only drawback is that it didn't look like I could DISconnect an email account if I wanted to (or it wasn't as apparent to me how to do that).
thanks @mayamarilyn! Shelf syncs your new email receipts daily by default. In your Settings (under “Email Accounts”), you can turn auto-sync off. If you would like to remove Shelf’s access to your email, you can do that through your google account (under “My Account” => “Connected apps & sites”). We are working to improve this by automatically removing Shelf’s access when you turn auto-sync off.

@gady90 Got it. Thanks. We have Google as an option right now (you can choose which email you'd like to sign up with through that route, and we only ask for email address and profile). What profile info you share is totally up to you and configurable in your Google account. We hear your feedback and understand this may not be ideal for you, so we'll also consider an email only option for the future.
@jabbawy thanks -- absolutely! You can click on the green plus “+” button next to search to add a product from a website (by link). We are are also working on adding a product by name, so stay tuned!

Shelf is looking great! Really impressed at how easy it is to set up / sync my account.
Looking forward to checking out the interesting ways that folks curate products into collections. Congrats gang!
Concept makes a lot of sense. Anyone remember Blippy? http://techcrunch.com/2011/05/19... I think it was a little too far ahead of its time, and also suffered some privacy issues. Good one to learn from. Good luck guys!
