Are we digging the new Digg?

by

Digg is back.

The onetime news aggregator relaunched Wednesday as a Reddit competitor, with founder Kevin Rose and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian at the helm.

The company is planning some AI integrations to help ensure the communities are populated by real people and not, well, AI.

Has anyone signed up yet? I know it's probably like wandering around a construction zone for a suburb that's only just broken ground, but still: What's the verdict?

I haven’t signed up yet, but I’m genuinely curious how this plays out. Digg worked back then because it felt human and community-driven — not optimized to death.

The AI angle is interesting, but the real test will be whether it helps surface better conversations instead of just moderating noise. If it ends up feeling like “old Digg + thoughtful defaults,” that could be refreshing in a Reddit-heavy world.

Right now it probably is a construction zone — but honestly, that’s often the best time to shape culture. I’ll be watching closely.
