🗣️ Find the right product, just ask
by•
We just shipped something new on Product Hunt.
Ask Product Hunt AI is a way to explore launches, products, and discussions without digging through pages or trying the perfect search query. You can just ask a question and it pulls from everything happening on the platform — products, comments, makers, all of it.
Looking for tools in a specific space? Want to see what people are saying about a launch? Trying to find something you saw last week but forgot the name of? Just ask.
It’s early, and we’re still figuring out what this becomes, so we’d love your feedback.
Try it out, break it, tell us what’s missing.

This fits how people think ("problem first, not keywords"). How do you handle vague queries without losing relevance?
@hudson_blake This fits how people think 'problem first, not keywords.' I'm curious how do you handle vague or broad queries without losing relevance? Is tehere a semantic reranking happening in the background to ensure the results stay high quality even with natural language? Really impressed with the shift towards discovery based search!
Feels like turning Product Hunt into a conversational layer over data. Do you see this replacing search or just complementing it?

@aaronoleary For finding a product in general, this is amazing !! Like searching for a tool to grow on LinkedIn, something for SEO or an emailing tool...
But when trying to find a launch you saw before and don’t remember the name, I think adding filters would help a lot.
For example: launch date (last week, last month), launch tags, logo colors, makers and hunters (search by name)… That would make it much easier !!
Are you also planning to integrate this into private collections? I save a lot of products there, and having this available inside collections would be very useful.

@amraniyasser Good suggestions!

@aaronoleary Thanks! How’s the feedback? Any surprising ones?!
Pulling from comments + makers is powerful but messy. How do you decide what signal to prioritize?
Perfect for "I saw something but forgot the name". Are you planning any personal memory/history layer?
This could trade speed for richer answers. Are you optimizing more for quick results or deeper context?
Love the "just ask" philosophy — removing friction is everything. 🚀
I built something similar but for a totally different vertical: an AI copilot for gardeners (frost alerts, disease diagnosis from photos, planting calendars). It made me wonder: do you think vertical-specific "Ask AI" assistants work better than general search, or is the magic precisely in having everything in one place?
Either way, congrats on shipping!
"Just ask" sets high expectations. How are you handling incorrect or incomplete answers early on?

Really like this.
For Product Hunt, “just ask” feels more natural than search already.
The real unlock is when it stops feeling like a feature and starts becoming the default way people explore launches, products, and discussions.
The "forgot the name but remember the feeling" use case is the one search never solved. This might actually crack it.
