I’ve tried a lot of task managers over the years, but Todoist sticks because it’s simple, fast, and consistent across devices. Adding tasks takes seconds, the natural language input works really well (“tomorrow at 9am”, “every Monday”), and the project + label system is flexible without being overwhelming.

What needs improvement

One area I’d love to see improved is deeper automation or smarter AI suggestions (e.g., auto-prioritizing tasks based on patterns). But even without that, it’s a solid daily driver for personal and team productivity.

vs Alternatives

Asana

I chose it over tools like Asana because it’s lighter and faster to adopt. Todoist focuses on personal and small-team execution without the overhead of complex project structures, making it easier for non-technical users to stick with it long-term.

I used to be a big Todoist user then dropped off for a bit. Ramble hooked me back in and it's never been easier to add Todos to my list. I have a quick button press to ramble plus and MCP connection with @Poke.com so my little assistant can remind be what I have or have not yet completed. Overall great to be back on the app.

I get the need for paid tiers but some functionalities like tagging are free on other apps.

vs Alternatives

It's just simple, fast, and really responsive. The ability to "Ramble" and then have it connected to my AI assistant was what really won me over.

I've been using Todoist to manage my personal and work tasks (I'm self-employed) for years. It is minimalist, elegant and very easy to use. The natural language processing in particular is excellent - just type and it will automatically tag the date, duration, deadline and recurrence. I use the today/upcoming calendar views every morning to plan my day; seamless and instant integration with Gcal means I can schedule tasks around the meetings and events in my calendar and see at a glance exactly what I've got ahead of me. A serious, modern to-do list that is worth every penny of the £36 I spend on the annual subscription.

What needs improvement

I'd like to be able to drag and drop tasks between columns on the board view. It surprises me that such a basic action is not currently possible given the maturity of the rest of the features. The logical next step for their Todoist Assist feature would be to roll out an AI scheduler which automatically schedules your highest priority tasks into your calendar.
