Dictantor captures meetings and voice notes across Mac, iPhone, and Apple Watch. On Mac, it records microphone and system audio together and prompts you before meetings. Transcription runs on device in 25 European languages, separating your voice from everyone else. Search returns you to exact spoken moments. No Dictantor account or subscription. Supported recordings can sync through your private iCloud account.
I record a lot of Zoom and Google Meet calls on my Mac and the biggest annoyance with other tools has always been either paying a monthly subscription or worrying about where the audio gets uploaded. Dictantor doing on-device transcription with no account and no subscription is exactly what I wanted. Separating my voice from other speakers automatically is a nice touch too, saves a lot of manual cleanup afterward. The prompt before meetings start is a small detail but it means I never forget to hit record.
What needs improvement
Watch support is listed but I'd like a quick way to jump straight to a transcript search from the Watch face itself rather than pulling out the phone.
I used Otter for a while but it needs a cloud account and I never loved having meeting audio leave my machine. Dictantor keeps everything on-device and works natively across Mac, iPhone, and Watch without a subscription, which fits how I actually work better.
