Stressed about creating HTTPS certificates π« ?, remembering ports and IPs π ?, manually updating your app on VPS π« ?, or editing that pesky /etc/hosts file ? Lokal.so takes care of it all! πͺπͺ Focus on building your amazing app! π, not the setup.
@rubi5491 Hey there! Congrats on launching lokal.so! It looks like a comprehensive suite for streamlining local development workflows. Here are some questions and how I can help:
- How does lokal.so ensure secure access to local environments, especially with the new self-hosted tunnel server feature, and how does it facilitate collaboration between developers?
- Does lokal.so integrate with popular developer tools and frameworks, and can users customize the development environment to their preferences?
As a developer, I'm interested in the security architecture behind the tunnels and the collaboration features. If those align with my skills, I might be able to contribute to future development.
Overall, lokal.so seems like a powerful platform to simplify and secure local development. Exploring advanced security measures for self-hosted tunnels, collaboration features, and potential integrations could enhance its value. I'd be happy to see how lokal.so evolves and potentially contribute my skills if relevant!
@sentry_co if you are going use the .local version, tens of thousands traffic will still do on Mac Studio (50k++/s)

I can not wait for the new feature you will bring to Lokal.so
@sipamungkas thank you sir, we managed to compress the cost of production as low as possible so that user could get much cheaper alternative than the most of vendor
Congrats on the launch! As a developer I can confirm this is a very helpful solution which can save many hours of development time. Kudos to the team, upvoted!
@rubi5491 Look super nice ππ» As a web developer I often need to share my local development environment with colleagues or even clients for a preview. The features are similar to ngrok, what are the main advantages of your service over others?
Congrats on the launch π
@crebuh thank you for the question, the Primary feature are .local mDNS address, for example, you would share and API endpoint to your team-mate on a same building or room, you could use .local https address instead publishing it to public internet
Lokal also has AI assistant, TCP/UDP Tunnel (while ngrok still doesn't support UDP after 9 years of existence), and more detailed comparison on

Hey,
How does lokal.so ensure the security of the HTTP/s .local Tunnel during development?
Are there any specific encryption protocols in place?
How does it compare with other similar tools?
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin omg I love this question
> How does lokal.so ensure the security of the HTTP/s .local Tunnel during development?
the https that used on .local address is basically the same as normal public-domain certificate, the only different is the certificate are signed by user's machine instead of some provider (like Let's Encrypt, COMODO CA, etc)
so in terms of security, there is no different with normal HTTPS on public-facing website
> How does it compare with other similar tools?
Here I share my excel file of comparison with another vendor
