I create and send around 20 tutorial videos every day so presumably close to your ideal target market for this product. My current workflow is to record with Screencastomatic then upload and share via Wistia.
I have seen quite a few of this screen-sharing add-ons popping up recently so was keen to check this one out. Anything that saves me time, offers similar functionality and reduces costs is going to win me as a user.
I'm afraid Viewedit didn't quite make the cut for me. It either doesn't yet offer these crucial features or doesn't make it clear how to use these features if they do exist:
1) No way yet to view and manage all of my videos on one page
2) No information yet about how long the video will be stored on your server or any limits on file size, duration or quantity.
3) No ability yet to perform even simple edits (e.g. trim a video).
4) No way to delete videos
5) Camera image is hidden when switching to another tab or desktop window
Until these issues get fixed I’m afraid I, and I suspect many others, will have to stick to our current workflow for anything other than the most casual screen recording
@dannyrichman Hi Danny!
First - thanks so much for your detailed comment and feedback! Of course, we would love to have you as a user.
Wanted to respond to your comments:
1) Video management has been requested by a number of users. It's certainly coming soon
2) We are currently supporting videos up to 1 hour long, you can record as many as you'd like!
3) We're looking into adding lightweight video editing functionality soon
4) Will come together with video management (#1) - coming soon!
5) Camera already travels with you from tab to tab when doing screen recording. Did you try this with screen recording? We aren't injecting webcam stream into desktop applications just yet
Made you a ViewedIt video to show this :) https://share.viewedit.com/VqWqv...
Question for you: how exactly do you share your tutorial videos once they are in Wistia?

@darynakulya I think you may still have some issues. Check this out...

There are a number of ways to share videos using Wistia. Open a free account to see for yourself
@dannyrichman Thanks for your awesome video and taking the time to provide this valuable feedback! It's very much appreciated.
We're updating our website as we speak to mention the things you brought up!
If you select "screen" instead of "tab", you'll be able to see your webcam going from tab to tab. Let me know if that doesn't work, but it works great here!
Again, thank you for your valuable feedback. That's what makes Product Hunt so great.

@darynakulya Yes, you are right. If I select "screen" then the cam moves from tab to tab.
I feel that this is also more a communication issue than a technical one.
Tried it! It's seamless and easy to follow every step. Just wondering who can have access to it if I have not shared my video with anyone. Also, how to delete the videos I don't like? Anyway, well done and congrats!
@eriktorenberg Hey Erik! Thanks for the comment. I love your questions! :)
Biggest lesson learned from my experience at Vidyard so far - ask the right questions and observe new users.
Made you a ViewedIt video explaining this further - https://share.viewedit.com/iEDjY...

Great product! Rooting for you guys as a fellow Canadian (ex-Hootsuite, now in venture).
However, found that my video wasn't able to processed when I record both the screen/tab and enable the mic. Any thoughts here? Thanks!
Thank you @alexktong for your constructive feedback and trying out our product! We have noticed a few users having a similar problem so I will try to elaborate on the issue.
The problem is that Chrome is stuck in a state where it cannot record all of your inputs. The browser API's simply do not return any video data. For one of our internal testers, she could not record at all when she included her microphone.
Sadly, we have found the workaround is to fully quit and restart Chrome. Rest assured we are actively working on improving how we handle this case. If you need any additional assistance please don't hesitate to contact us at support@viewedit.com.

Looks like a great tool 👍
Do the videos have a ViewedIt logo on screen and is there any way to download the videos?
Well done and good luck!
@rossc888 Hi Ross! Thanks for your comment and sorry for the delayed response. No, videos don't have a ViewedIt logo. We don't currently support video download, but it's something we're considering. We're focused on making it super easy for you to share the videos you make. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Oh sweet Jesus, this is legitimately the tool I needed about a month ago when we shot a demo of our web dashboard. It was such a pain to set up screen capture sunk to audio, then re-record the audio later to get it working/looking proper. Just gave it a try and it's so easy to record a single tab (was worried it would be full screen only), Camtasia is dead to me.
Second thought is this will be super useful for showing current customers where features are, how to use the product, etc.
@thatmattgardner Hey Matt! So glad to hear this. We have been using ViewedIt for helping customers discover how to use Vidyard platform, so it's a very important use case for us to support. Happy recording, let me know if you have any questions at all! :)

As a product manager who often does QA, I could see myself using this tool to take screen captures of bugs and then adding the video link to the story in Jira/Pivotal Tracker. Sometimes screenshots just don't cut it.
Nice work Vidyard team!
Thanks @kurtis_elliott ! It’s great to hear of all the use cases people plan to use ViewedIt for! We’ve been using ViewedIt internally and I can say as a developer having something more than screenshots is always appreciated :)
