@aleksey_chepovoi there are some foundational differences - like privacy and ownership. then there are some tech product benefits - like it works offline and is blazingly fast with native apps for ios and android. Most importantly, it's based on graph and gives additional flexibility and power to what you can create from web pages, to databases and to sets.

Please help prioritise Mobile development more, not saying it should be on par with Desktop but the margin is too wide. Though the mobile capability is superb but more will be better. My first two years was mobile only. But when I tried it on my Windows I was amazed. Take Obsidian for consideration, it's almost 95% align on Desktop and Mobile most of the differences are due to screen display and community plugins. For example I would love to create and asign templates on Mobile, create inline sets and collections, graph view and so many core use cases. Also the web clipper shouldn't arrive late for Mobile. Thank you
@olanrelekan We absolutely agree, thank you for advocating for mobile! Our team is dedicating a good amount of attention to mobile on Anytype and I expect that our next launch on Product Hunt will be featuring our mobile platforms! And thank you again for keeping up with all of the feedback to help us improve!

Hi!
I have been ejoying Anytype alot!
I looked at the self-hosted docs a little. Is there a way to self host a node without building the clients myself? Would be amazing to just use a node as a personal data backup basically.
Also I think I read that multi-space usage would be possible in the future? Would that include cross-network spaces?
Thanks in advance! <3
@luckydye thank you for support! we just released self-hosting alpha and plan to improve it based on feedback - next week we plan self-hosting AMA on reddit exactly to discuss that.
@luckydye multi-space I hope comes with the next release - private multi-spaces. Sharing and publishing will come later in 2023 and will be upgraded in 2024

@sharipova Sounds exciting, thanks for the reply! Have a nice day :)
Absolutely love AnyType and been using for a month so far since it has a good UI and protects info well. Was wondering how this is Web3 since I saw the tag added!
@pothamram Thanks for being part of our community and for your question! Fundamentally, web3 is not about crypto or NFTs; it's about data ownership. Any platforms where you upload or create data on Web 2.0 sits on the servers of platform providers, who are free to use and monetize your data however they wish. In web3, the concept is that the creator of the data - the user - should be the one who decides how it is used and where it is hosted. This is what Anytype is all about, and it's why we're in the web3 category :) Hope that helps!
@pothamram the main thing is "who controls the keys" - in all cloud apps they are controlled by the developer (hence no privacy, no ownership, no governance). In anytype the keys are controlled by the user, much like keys to wallets. This is on top supported by peer-2-peer stack and that anytype is built on hashes

@charmandro I was worried about this, because the product looks amazing to me, but I am immediately wary of the term web3 since I always see it associated with blockchain technology. But this app doesnβt use blockchain at all, then?
This looks awesome! At first glance, it looks like a more user-friendly version of Notion (as minimalist as Notion is, I find it offers way too many customizations) mixed with the knowledge graph capabilities of something like Obsidian. I'm excited to give this a spin!
@matthew_ritchie yes, we wanted to mix up a graph of objects with block-based tool to create objects, so anyone can create spaces on decetralized architecture without code (and these spaces would speak the same language of objects, types and relations, meaning they would be interoperable without an API

@sharipova what does that very last bit mean? [that they would be interoperable without an api]
@nikkimarkov Thank you so much for your support Nikita!

The way the internet is going with AI and it's use of data, paid advertising having access to everything we know, love, and use...we, the users, have little to no control over what these companies know about us. Unfortunately, even some of the other knowledge management apps have access to the precious content you might be storing.
This is where Anytype got me hooked. Their promise to build a safe and secure application, fully encrypted, with the users privacy as their core principle. Understanding that the team is dedicated to building a tool for the users freedom and protection of their data is truly inspiring.
Apart from the end-to-end encryption, the layout and setup of the software is just SEXY. The original idea of the Graph they have built, to visualize your connection of objects and documents you create, combined with the new psychology of Object Types vs pages on pages. It's brilliant.
Yes, there is a learning curve, like any professional software (think of photoshop or protools) you need to learn first the fundamentals, features, and elements to become an efficient user.
With this release of the official beta, they've accomplished a huge milestone. I believe from here on the user onboarding will become more efficient. Templates, tutorials, and more education will come. If you're not already using Anytype, now is the time to start. Join a town hall, get in touch with their mission and vision, the plan they have ahead, and become a power user. I guarantee it will pay off.
@kyletdow thank you Kyle! We will focus on onboarding and gallery of use-cases or ways to use anytype with coming releases

I've been using Anytype for a year and a half now, and the growth the app (and team) went through is amazing! I'm very happy to see what has been achieved, and I'm even more excited for what is coming (selfhosting, multi-user spaces, handwriting support, and much more). GO TEAM ANY!
@sam_bouwer thank you Sam! Our community is at the heart of what we do! self-hosting and multi-spaces are in development and very soon hope to share some news
@sam_bouwer Hi Sam! I think it's no overstatement to say that we could not have gotten to this point without your help and are infinitely grateful that you've been such a core part of our journey. Thank you for your continued support & belief, it's been a wild journey & we're just getting started!
