Why do you work at a startup?

by
Hey hunters! There are a lot of startupers here. And it is interesting for me why people choose to work for a startup. Personally, I like opportunity to learn something new everyday. My work is quite flexible so my responsibilities could change. And I really like it! What about you? Why have you decided to work at a startup? What is your favorite part of working for a startup?

Great qestion! I work for a startup because I don't see myself working anywhere else. I work for the idea, not for monetary compensation. - I express ideas freely - I don't deal with corporate culture, gossip, or plotting - I learn quicker than anywhere else - Everyone on a team is working towards a goal, not to just get paid

Because it is in your projects that you give 100% of your strength and strive to be better and more productive, although it may be different for someone, but this is more an exception :)
Daria
@helen_krutina Yes, it motivates a lot!

Startups are the best place for growth and learning. I personally love it because every single thing you do has a direct impact on the business. And that's exciting and scary at the same time. And the learning from building something from ground up is unmatched.

A hallmark of startups is their energy and enthusiasm. The novelty and potential for success can create a positive, motivating environment that employees enjoy participating in every day. When everyone has a common goal of growing the business, it increases employee engagement and productivity.

I work at a startup because I care about our mission. A group of people, who all care about the same thing, who most likely take a pay-cut and risk a lot of their personal lives and time, are more driven than you could ever imagine. My favorite part has to be the people, startups are all about testing YOURSELF and how you learn to adapt. If you asked me 2 years ago what Product Market Fit was, I would have said "idk like does it fit inside of something (laughable but true). You learn so so much! It's a journey for sure.
Daria
@brianfemminella Yes, working for a startup makes you flexible! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Working with many different things. I was a dev, just used to code. After starting my startup, I have been doing marketing, support, finances - little bit of everything.
Daria
@ashrahman Yeah, working on multiple roles is an amazing thing!

It's likely that working with a startup will provide you a broad range of responsibilities. With limited staff and resources, you can take part in projects that you might miss out on in a more traditional job.
Daria
@kathleen_smith2 That's right! Responsibilities could change from day to day!

Before my first day at work I thought it was gonna be a temporary gig. Then on my first day I immediately found my place at work, I was able to take ownership of not only my tasks but the increments of my efforts. So usually it doesn't even feel like work and it feels awesome.
